Retail Nursery Manager Uncle Jutty's Nursery is a locally owned retail Plant Nursery located in Kissimmee, Florida. We are seeking a reliable, motivated and hands-on Retail Nursery Manager to lead our team, oversee daily operations, maintain quality plant inventory, provide excellent customer service, and help grow our business. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with plants and people, has strong retail and leadership skills, and thrives in an outdoor, fast-paced environment. Position Overview The Retail Nursery Manager is responsible for the day-to-day nursery operations, including staff supervision, customer service and sales, inventory control, plant quality, receiving, merchandising, and operational efficiency. The Manager will lead by example and work closely with company management to achieve operational, sales, and profitability goals. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily nursery operations, including staff scheduling, workflow, and customer service. Lead by example in customer service and retail sales, assisting customers with plant and product selections. Supervise, train, and support employees, including onboarding new team members. Manage receiving and customer orders, including verification, placement, labeling, pricing, preparation, and dispatch. Maintain accurate and organized inventory, including periodic inventory counts. Monitor aging, damaged, declining, and slow-moving inventory and coordinate appropriate corrective action. Maintain plant appearance and health by monitoring watering, irrigation, fertilization, pests, disease, and overall plant quality. Address operational issues involving plant quality, staffing, supply, and customer concerns. Ensure employees follow company procedures and applicable safety standards. Handle routine administrative functions, including paperwork, order processing, and inventory systems. Monitor sales performance and work with company management to identify opportunities to increase sales, improve inventory movement, and enhance the customer experience. Assist company management with expense control, labor efficiency, budgeting, operational goals, and opportunities for continued growth and improvement. Qualifications & Experience Required Experience in retail management, supervision, or a similar leadership role. Strong customer service skills and retail sales experience. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working outdoors year-round in Florida weather conditions. Proficient with computers, including email, inventory/POS systems, and basic Microsoft Office applications. Ability and willingness to work weekends as part of the regular management schedule. Ability to perform the physical activities normally associated with nursery operations, including standing and walking for extended periods and assisting with the handling of plants and nursery products when necessary. Preferred Experience in a retail nursery, garden center, landscaping, horticulture, or related industry. Knowledge of plant materials and basic plant care, or willingness to learn. Experience with plant inventory, receiving, merchandising, and inventory-control systems. Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred. Nursery Hours & Work Schedule Uncle Jutty's Nursery operates seven days a week, Monday through Sunday. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility to work weekdays and weekends. The Manager will typically have one to two days off per week, depending on staffing, seasonal demand, and business needs.
