Grounds Maintenance Leader-TTU Center at Junction Junction 46338BR Junction Position Description Supervises and directs work involving direction of the activities of grounds keeping employees and particiapting in moderately heavy manual work. Supervises ten or more employees. Work is performed outdoors with exposure to hazardous equipment. About the Department and/or College The Texas Tech Center at Junction is home of the Llano River Field Station and the Outdoor Learning Center and has been the Texas Tech Center at Junction since 1971 and encompasses more than 400 acres. There is an emphasis on natural resource and watershed engagement, research and literacy and environmental education in the Texas Hill Country. The mission of this Center is to encourage, conduct and coordinate basic and applied research projects as well as engaging K-12 students in research activities grounded in teacher professional development. Major/Essential Functions Provides grounds, facilities, equipment, and operational support for the Texas Tech Center at Junction, including the Conference Center and Outdoor Learning Lab.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain campus grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment; Prepare and support facilities for academic programs, conferences, events, outdoor activities, and scheduled groups; Maintain water-system and swimming-pool operations, testing, records, and compliance when appropriately licensed or certified; Assist with inventory, equipment documentation, and facility readiness; and Coordinate operational needs Required Qualifications Completion of high school or the equivalent, preferably including courses in Spanish. Three years experience in grounds maintenance, including experience in equipment operation and gardening techniques. Preferred Qualifications Current Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class D water operator license, or ability to obtain and maintain the license within a timeframe established by the department; Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or ability to obtain and maintain the certification within a timeframe established by the department.
