Hardscape Subcontractor - InstallerJob Overview We are seeking motivated and experienced hardscape subcontractors to complete residential and commercial projects throughout the Triangle area. Work may include installing concrete and paver patios, pool decks, walkways, retaining walls, steps, drainage systems, and other outdoor living features. The ideal subcontractor takes pride in quality workmanship, follows plans and specifications, maintains a safe and organized jobsite, and completes projects on schedule. Responsibilities Install pavers, concrete, natural stone, retaining-wall block, coping, steps, walkways, patios, and pool decking. Perform layout, grading, excavation, compaction, and base preparation. Install aggregate bases, bedding sand, reinforcement, edge restraints, joint sand, and sealers as required. Read construction drawings, site plans, elevations, and project specifications. Establish proper grades and drainage to prevent standing water and protect surrounding structures. Operate compactors, skid steers, saws, mixers, and other hardscape equipment safely. Repair or replace damaged concrete, pavers, masonry, and retaining walls. Protect existing landscaping, structures, pools, and adjacent finished surfaces. Coordinate with project managers, homeowners, builders, and other subcontractors. Keep the jobsite clean and remove construction debris upon completion. Complete installations according to manufacturer requirements, local codes, and accepted industry standards. Requirements Proven experience installing hardscapes, pool decks, patios, walkways, retaining walls, or similar outdoor improvements. Knowledge of grading, drainage, excavation, compaction, and proper base preparation. Ability to install concrete, pavers, natural stone, retaining-wall block, or similar materials. Ability to read plans, follow measurements, calculate quantities, and establish elevations. Experience using hand tools, power tools, masonry saws, compactors, and construction equipment. Ability to safely lift and handle heavy materials and perform physically demanding outdoor work. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to project sites throughout the Triangle area. Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills. Ability to work independently, manage a crew, and meet project schedules. Must provide workers' compensation and general liability insurance. References and photographs of recently completed hardscape or pool-deck projects are required. Subcontractors must provide appropriate tools and equipment unless otherwise agreed upon. Preferred Qualifications Experience with pool-deck construction. Experience installing concrete, pavers, travertine, porcelain pavers, or natural stone. Experience building segmental retaining walls and outdoor steps. Knowledge of drainage systems, including catch basins and underground piping. Ability to provide labor-only pricing based on plans and defined scopes of work. Compensation is based on experience, project scope, and agreed subcontract pricing.
