About Roof Structures Inc. Roof Structures Inc. (RSI) is a California wood framing contractor specializing in panelized roof systems, heavy timber and glulam construction, seismic retrofits, and commercial framing. Our projects include warehouses, distribution centers, schools, and R&D buildings. We are a family construction company that has been building in the bay area since1966. You'd join a small, experienced team where your estimates directly win work, and you'll see those projects get built. What You'll Do Perform quantity takeoffs for framing, panelized roofs, heavy timber, glulam, and hardware from plans and specs Build estimates for labor, material, and equipment, and price from supplier and sub quotes Solicit and compare pricing from lumber, glulam, steel joist, and hardware suppliers Review steel joist and glulam shop drawings for coordination with our scope Review specs and addenda and incorporate changes into the bid Write scope letters, clarifications, and exclusions, and submit proposals to general contractors Prepare RFIs and substitution requests (RFSs) for RSI and our suppliers Track bid invitations, due dates, and drawing sets in Procore, BuildingConnected, and our document systems Hand off awarded projects to the project management team What We're Looking For 2+ years of estimating experience in wood framing, carpentry, or a related trade, or several years of framing field experience and a desire to move into estimating Ability to read architectural and structural drawings, including framing plans, shear walls, hold-downs, and connection details Working knowledge of framing systems: dimensional lumber, engineered wood, panelized roofs, glulam, and heavy timber Comfort with takeoff software (On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar) and Excel Organized, able to manage several bids at once and hit deadlines Clear communicator with GCs, suppliers, and our field team Nice to Have Experience with panelized or hybrid panelized roof systems (wood panels on steel joists) Seismic retrofit or Division 06 estimating experience Construction management or estimating coursework Software We Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, Procore, BuildingConnected, Box, Dropbox Why RSI Competitive salary based on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Life insurance and FSA Paid time off and paid holidays
