Job Description
About Us Monsen Collins Builders is a Saratoga-based design-build custom home builder and remodeling contractor. Since 2000, we have served the greater San Francisco Bay Area, including Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Palo Alto, and Cupertino. We take on a small number of homes at a time so that an owner is on every job. Our work, from custom homes and ADUs to remodels and additions, is guided by a commitment to collaboration, transparency, and accountability. About the Role You will join an established team that values precision, professionalism, and exceptional craftsmanship. This role is ideal for a skilled carpenter who takes pride in quality finish work, solves problems in the field, and works respectfully with others. We offer a professional, team-oriented environment where reliability, dedication, and quality work are recognized and rewarded. What You'll Do Cabinetry and Millwork Set custom cabinets, vanities, and built-ins, scribing to walls and floors and fine-tuning hardware for a flawless fit. Install architectural millwork, wall paneling, wainscoting, and coffered ceilings. Run baseboard, casing, and crown with tight miters and clean copes. Doors and Hardware Hang and adjust solid-core and specialty doors, including pivot, pocket, and concealed-jamb systems. Install high-end door hardware, such as mortise locks and concealed hinges. Exterior Finish Install premium siding and cladding, including architectural wood, rain-screen systems, fiber cement, and shiplap. Detail flashing, weather-resistive barriers, and drainage so every exterior assembly stays watertight. Layout and Preparation Read and work from architectural plans, structural drawings, and cabinet and millwork shop drawings. Install backing and blocking, and prepare rough openings so finish work goes in true. Hold finish tolerances of 1/16 inch or tighter where the work demands it. Teamwork and Jobsite Standards Coordinate with site managers, crew members, and specialty trades to keep the project moving. Keep work areas clean and protected, especially in occupied homes, and follow all safety standards. Mentor apprentices and laborers, sharing your knowledge with patience and respect. What You Bring 10+ years of finish carpentry experience. 5+ years of high-end residential experience, with three professional references. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong work ethic. Commitment to safety. Valid California driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation suitable for carrying trade tools. A comprehensive set of personal carpentry tools.
