Build it so it stays that way. Squirrels in the attic. Bats in the soffit. Raccoons that found a soft spot in the roofline and made themselves at home. Our exclusion crew is the part of the job that actually solves the problem. Anybody can trap an animal. We go up on the roof, find the entry point, and seal it with real carpentry so the homeowner never has to call anybody again. Ridge vents, soffits, fascia, gable vents, chimney caps, foundation gaps, crawlspaces — if a critter can get through it, we close it. This is a posting for experienced people. We're looking for someone who already knows their way around a ladder, a drill, a caulk gun, and a metal brake. We'll teach you wildlife. We're not going to teach you the trade. What you'll do Inspect roofs, attics, crawlspaces, and exteriors to find how animals are getting in Build and install exclusion work — sealing gaps, screening vents, bending and fitting custom metal, repairing damaged soffit, fascia, siding, trim, and roof edges Work off ladders and roofs safely, every day Install one-way doors and exclusion devices, then return and close it up permanently Handle the repair carpentry that follows: replacing chewed or rotted wood, insulation work, cleanup Talk to homeowners like a professional — explain what you found, what you're doing, and why What we require Real, demonstrable trade experience — carpentry, roofing, siding, insulation, or exclusion work. Enough that you can pick up an unfamiliar job and figure it out. Confident and competent working off ladders and on roofs daily Hands-on skill with drills, fasteners, sealants and caulk, hand and power tools Comfortable running a metal brake and fitting custom bent metal in the field Valid driver's license and a clean-enough record to drive a company vehicle Able to lift 50+ lbs, work in attics and crawlspaces, and handle heat, cold, and weather Show up on time, every day, ready to work Preferred CT NWCO (Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator) license — if you have one, say so up front, it moves you to the front of the line Pesticide Applicator's License OSHA 10 Prior wildlife, pest control, or animal-handling experience Roofing or siding background specifically Don't have the wildlife licenses? That part's fine — we'll pay for the training and testing to get you licensed. What we can't shortcut is the trade skill. Bring that with you. The interview includes a hands-on We've read enough resumes that say "roofing experience." So part of the interview is done with tools in your hands, not across a desk. Expect to set, foot, and climb a ladder properly; run a bead of sealant we'd be willing to leave on a customer's house; use a drill and fasteners on the material we actually work with; and make a bend on a metal brake and fit the piece. Nothing exotic, nothing timed, no tricks. If you do this work for a living it'll take you twenty minutes and you'll enjoy it. We just want to see it rather than read about it. What we're really screening for: attitude We're a small, growing outfit and everybody here carries their weight. The people who do well with us take pride in the work — when we're done it should look like nobody was ever there. They say what's going on: if something's wrong, a repair is bigger than expected, or you made a mistake, we want to hear it that day, not next week. They're steady with customers, because standing in somebody's home telling them animals have been living in their attic takes patience. And they actually want to get better. If you like a job where you're left alone to do it right, this is it. If you need somebody standing over you, it isn't. Tools and safety gear — we don't cheap out. Ever. We buy good equipment because bad equipment gets people hurt and does bad work. You will be issued the harnesses, lanyards, anchors, ladders, ladder stabilizers, respirators, and PPE the job actually requires, and we will not ask you to make do without something. If you need a piece of gear to do a job safely, you get it. That's the whole policy. You'll also get professional-grade tools to do the carpentry properly, plus a company vehicle to run your route. Room to move up We're growing. That's not a line — it means an experienced person coming in now is in position to become a lead tech and eventually run a crew. We'd much rather promote somebody who already knows how we work than hire a stranger into it later.
