Job Description
Constanza & Company is seeking an experienced framing carpenter with a thorough understanding of residential construction, house framing, and complex roof systems. The right candidate can read architectural and structural plans, lay out work accurately, and carry framing through from floor systems to roof completion. We are looking for someone who understands how the structure comes together, anticipates problems, and produces quality work without constant direction. Responsibilities Read and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, sections, schedules, and framing details. Lay out and frame floors, walls, ceilings, and roofs for new homes, additions, and renovations. Frame conventional roofs, including gables, hips, valleys, dormers, and intersecting rooflines. Calculate roof pitches, rafter lengths, and compound cuts. Install roof trusses, engineered lumber, beams, headers, posts, joists, and subflooring according to plans and manufacturer requirements. Understand load paths, bearing points, framing connections, bracing, blocking, and structural hardware. Lay out window and door openings and account for stairs, ceiling heights, and finish dimensions. Keep framing square, level, plumb, and properly aligned. Identify discrepancies between drawings and field conditions and communicate them before proceeding. Coordinate with the crew and other trades to keep work organized and moving. Maintain a safe, clean jobsite and use tools and equipment properly. Qualifications Proven experience framing residential homes and roofs. Ability to read and work from a complete set of construction plans. Strong understanding of framing layout, construction math, roof geometry, and structural details. Experience with both conventional framing and engineered framing systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a crew. Attention to detail, dependable attendance, and clear communication. Reliable transportation to jobsites. Ability to perform the physical duties of framing, including material handling and working on ladders and scaffolding, with reasonable accommodation as needed.
