Palm Beach County and Remote Projects Locations Duties and Responsibilities Carpenter I & II have a range of responsibilities, from working on projects from initiation to completion, including scheduling and quality control, to performing all phases of carpentry work such as safety, framing, drywall installation, and trim work. They are also tasked with operating equipment, conducting inspections and repairs, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. Furthermore, they are responsible for performing and coordinating the activities of carpentry crews & labor workers, as well as collaborating with Project Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors to achieve daily and future goals. The Carpenter I & II works with the Project Superintendent & Project Managers on the day-to-day project operations tasks and activities. Follow instructions from supervisor Open & Secure Project Site with Crew on site Working with Carpenter & Labor Crews Performing daily job site clean up Performing & coordinating cleaning and preparing construction site Performing of loading and unloading materials Performing as Key Runner Performing & Training of basic hand tools and some power tools for crew on site Experience in measuring with a tape measure and snapping lines using a chalk line Performing & coordinating carpentry crews with their daily duties Record & Report daily work activities and hours worked on HH2 time keeping system Perform & complete new construction activities requested by project superintendent Read prints, request material, build, demo, remodel, advise sub-contractors Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans Follow project plans and schedules to ensure that crews meet production goals Operate machinery and equipment Drive job site safety and promote safety culture Assist in cost control with materials and labor on site Thrive in mentor role and encourages team growth and development. Sets up and oversees all ongoing safety & work site training. Seeks to build morale of all team members by positive reinforcement, feedback, etc. Prioritizes needs of projects and meets the needs according to available carpenters and laborers Maintains clear & open communication with project superintendents of daily schedule Sets and enforces quality standards by conducting pre-installation conferences, building mock-ups, and identifying deficiencies in a timely manner. Seeks to learn about changes in construction industry. Helps to develop work plans for crews that are consistent with the projects budget. Works with team to determine work activities, crew size, and production goals. Identifies schedule risks and plans of action & keeps project manager up to date on risk exposures to additional work and CE activities. Help coordinate and direct all subcontractor and vendor deliveries to ensure timeliness and efficient placement on site. Help manage project staging, access, hoisting, vertical and horizontal movement of material Holds and conducts weekly safety meetings and on-site safety orientation meetings Identifies active and potential delays to the project and assures that these delays are being documented and communicated to the project team. Report via text message daily work activities and hours worked Work is physically demanding & usually takes place outdoors in all types of weather conditions Requirements Professional work ethic, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Intermediate knowledge of math Safety first mentality always. Must be physically fit (able to frequently lift and move 50 lbs over 100 meters). Communication skills with variety of roles and degrees of expertise. Perform all job responsibilities with keen attention to quality and detail. Lead and mentor everyone on the job site as to what quality means according to GRIT standards Experience working with vertical commercial construction projects preferred Knowledge of hand tools Must be safety conscious. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to utilize electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets, and computers. Ability to complete assigned tasks. Ability to follow basic directions. Talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employees will spend their time in a field office environment with a high noise level. Required to walk Job Site Continuously Willingness to function as part of a team and work with others. Strict adherence to workplace safety regulations. Following health and safety regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard.
