Experienced Residential Carpenter

Job Description

Starting Pay:
$30
  • 45 per Hour — Based on Experience, Skills & Tools We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on residential carpenter who can take a project from plans to completion.
This position is for an experienced craftsman who personally performs the work—not someone who primarily manages projects and subcontracts the work to others. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate must have proven experience with major residential construction projects, including:
  • Built a complete house or a substantial addition that included a bathroom and/or kitchen.
  • Ability to accurately read, interpret, and work from architectural and construction blueprints.
  • Ability to measure, lay out, and construct projects with precision.
  • Ability to draw or sketch room additions, including kitchens and other spaces, with accurate dimensions.
  • Strong working knowledge of residential building codes. Candidates will be asked questions about building codes as part of the interview process.
  • Ability to build residential structures and additions to code and according to proper construction standards.
  • Knowledge of framing, roofing, siding, flooring, trim, drywall, doors, windows, stairs, kitchens, bathrooms, and other residential construction.
  • Ability to properly grade a driveway from scratch and establish appropriate drainage.
  • Ability to develop realistic time estimates for projects and consistently complete work on or ahead of schedule.
This Is a Hands-On Position We are not looking for someone who simply calls themselves a residential contractor and subcontracts most of the work. We are looking for a carpenter who knows how to do the work and personally does the work. You may occasionally have an assistant to help with larger projects, but you must be capable of independently performing the majority of the construction work yourself. Experience & References Required Candidates must be prepared to provide:
  • Names and phone numbers of previous customers who can speak about the quality of your work.
  • Contact information for supervisors or managers from previous construction employers.
  • Photos of projects you have personally worked on.
  • A clear description of exactly what work you performed in each photo.
We value honesty and accuracy. For example, if a photo shows a completed staircase but your contribution was painting it, tell us that. If a photo shows a house addition but you only built the deck, clearly identify your role. We want to see what you actually built—not simply projects you were associated with. Tools & Transportation
  • Must have a dependable truck suitable for residential construction work.
  • Must own most of the tools necessary to perform residential construction.
  • Candidates with a more extensive collection of professional tools and equipment may qualify for higher pay within the $30
  • 45/hour range.
We Are Looking for a Long-Term Team Member This is not a position for someone looking for a base income while primarily working side jobs. We are looking for someone who wants to work, build, take pride in their craftsmanship, and become a dependable member of our team. We value productivity, honesty, precision, reliability, and the ability to complete quality work efficiently. If You Can Build It, We Want to Meet You. If you are a true hands-on residential carpenter with the experience, knowledge, tools, and work ethic to back up your skills, we want to hear from you. You must be committed to continuous study and learning on a daily basis in order to facilitate specialized residential projects that we determine we'd like to have. For example, currently we are planning a small 2 acre organic farm Village that will have six little structures on it. You would need to learn specifics on building a greenhouse with various amenities.

Also, we want to build a little arched Bridge across the Stream which will need to span about 20 ft. and be able to carry the load of a golf cart or possibly a very small vehicle.
