$23.00-$35.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill level Job Summary DPW Contractors is looking for an experienced, well-rounded Residential Carpenter / Framer to join our construction crew. We are looking for someone with solid carpentry and framing skills who is comfortable working on a variety of projects—not someone who specializes only in finish carpentry. Our work includes new residential construction, decks and covered porches, post-frame and metal buildings, remodeling, concrete forming, and general construction. The right person should know their way around a job site, be confident using common carpentry tools, understand basic layout and framing, and be able to complete assigned work independently as well as part of a crew. Our projects are located throughout Kentucky, so the job location will vary depending on the current project. Duties Frame walls, floors, roofs, decks, porches, and other residential structures Perform layout for walls, openings, doors, windows, and structural components Accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install lumber and other building materials Read and work from construction plans and drawings Build decks, stairs, railings, and covered porches Assist with post-frame and metal building construction Install exterior sheathing, house wrap, siding, windows, and doors Build and set concrete forms and string lines Perform remodeling, repair, and general construction work as needed Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials Maintain quality workmanship and a clean, organized job site Follow company and job-site safety requirements Work independently when appropriate and as part of the DPW crew Skills & Qualifications 3+ years of residential construction, framing, or carpentry experience preferred Strong wood-framing and general carpentry skills Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure Ability to perform basic construction layout Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings Experience laying out walls, openings, doors, windows, and structural components Proficient with common carpentry tools, including circular saws, miter saws, reciprocating saws, table saws, drills/impacts, framing nailers, levels, and lasers Experience building decks, porches, stairs, and railings Basic understanding of residential construction practices and building methods Ability to safely climb ladders and comfortably work at elevated heights Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 lbs. Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical construction work throughout the workday Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Able to work independently and as part of a crew Additional Experience Is a Plus Experience in any of the following is beneficial, but applicants are not expected to have experience in every area: New-home framing Roof framing and truss installation Post-frame/pole-barn construction Metal building construction Exterior sheathing and house wrap Siding installation Door and window installation Deck framing and composite decking Concrete formwork and forming systems Setting forms and string lines Basic concrete placement or finishing Remodeling and repair work Skid steer, telehandler, or mini-excavator operation Schedule DPW Contractors currently aims for a Monday-Thursday schedule of approximately 10 hours per day , providing a four-day workweek whenever project schedules and weather allow. Construction schedules can change. Some days may run longer, and Fridays may be used when necessary to complete work or make up time lost due to weather. Our goal is to provide approximately 40 hours of work per week when workload and weather conditions allow. We try to be flexible and determine the most practical meeting or reporting location based on the employee's location and the location of the current job site.
