Chevy Chase, MD (Projects throughout Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland) About Wentworth Wentworth is an architect-led residential design/build company specializing in high-end residential remodeling and custom home projects. We are seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our growing team. The ideal candidate can independently read construction plans, manage day-to-day job site operations, coordinate with project managers and homeowners, and consistently deliver high-quality craftsmanship. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and project specifications Lead daily job site operations and keep projects moving efficiently Perform residential remodeling, framing, and finish carpentry work Install trim, doors, windows, cabinetry, built-ins, and custom millwork Coordinate and direct laborers and other field personnel as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site Communicate professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and project managers Identify and resolve job site challenges proactively Ensure all work meets Wentworth's quality standards and project specifications Monitor project progress and communicate updates to management Train and mentor less experienced crew members Qualifications We're looking for candidates who have: Minimum of 5 years of residential remodeling experience Strong experience with framing, trim carpentry, cabinet installation, and finish carpentry Ability to accurately read a tape measure and execute detailed layouts Ability to independently read and interpret residential construction plans, blueprints, and specifications Experience managing day-to-day job site activities with minimal supervision Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license Must have a reliable personal vehicle and be able to travel independently to project sites throughout Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Lead Carpenter, Foreman, or Job Site Supervisor Experience coordinating residential remodeling projects from start to finish Experience working directly with homeowners and subcontractors Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and safety standards Location & Travel Requirements Projects are located throughout Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Southern Maryland. Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Chevy Chase, MD and be comfortable traveling to various job sites as needed. Tools Lead Carpenter candidates must have a complete working set of professional hand and power tools appropriate for residential remodeling and finish carpentry work. Compensation $28.00 - $32.00 per hour Compensation is based on experience, skill level, leadership ability, and overall qualifications.
