We are a growing residential and commercial contracting business looking for an experienced, highly motivated Lead Carpenter to run job sites and join our steady crew as a W2 employee. We need a skilled working leader who takes pride in top-tier quality, communicates effectively with owners and clients, and can direct field helpers while working side-by-side with the owner on diverse projects ranging from high-end residential builds to high-profile commercial developments in the Greater Portland area.

Compensation & Benefits Hourly Pay:

$28.00 - $34.00 per hour (Dependent on Experience)

Classification:

Full-Time, W2 Employee Paid Time Off (PTO): 1 week PTO after 6 months of employment 2 weeks PTO after 1 year of employment

Paid Holidays:

7 paid holidays per year

Tool Allowance:

$500 annual tool allowance

Incentive Bonus Structure:

Project-based, tiered bonus structure earning 3% to 7% of Total Gross Profit per job

Core Responsibilities Job Site Leadership:

Run jobs efficiently from start to finish, managing workflow, project timelines, and site setup.

Quality Control:

Ensure all structural work, framing, and finish craftsmanship meet strict quality and building standards.

Crew Management:

Direct, mentor, and work alongside carpentry helpers and sub-trades on-site.

Owner & Client Communication:

Maintain clear, professional communication with the business owner and clients throughout every phase of the build.

Collaborative Framing:

Work directly with the owner to execute complex structural tasks, blueprint layouts, and problem-solving. Requirements & Qualifications Proven experience running job sites and leading residential or commercial carpentry projects. Strong working knowledge of framing, structural construction, and reading blueprints. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (comfortable speaking directly with clients in occupied homes and public spaces). Must have reliable, independent transportation to local job sites. Must provide a personal toolbelt and basic hand tools (specialty tools provided; supported by the $500 annual tool allowance).
