Valid MN Driver's License, current insurance, or be insurable.
Summary:
Responsible for performing new construction and remodeling by interpreting and preparing instruction of all buildings assigned to Facilities Management.
Education Requirements and Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.) Six months to one year of residential carpentry experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of Reservation boundaries, communities, residents and resources. General carpentry and building skills required. Good oral and written communication skills and customer service skills. Possess interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and effectively communicate with other employees, programs and vendors. Good attendance and punctuality a must. Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.
Supervisory Duties:
None Duties/Responsibilities:
Determines material and estimated time needed on assigned projects. Measures, cuts, and installs construction materials according to work order(s). Operates and maintains all carpenter equipment, power and hand tools, etc. Provide technical assistance to building lessee regarding upkeep. Maintains an accurate daily work log, including scheduling work sites, labor hours, material usage and vehicle use. Performs heavy lifting up to seventy-five pounds. Must practice safety precautions and be safety conscious at all times. Calculates and interprets dimensions using standard measuring devices. Meets and communicates with people, vendors, and suppliers. Attend and/or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required. Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times. Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis. Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct. All other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work under minimum supervision under timelines with high degree of reliability. Able to lift and carry up to seventy-five pounds above waist, bending, reaching and climbing. Able to work in varying temperatures, noise, exposure to fumes, chemicals and solvents and possibly infectious or toxic environment. Subject to internal working conditions. Non-smoking environment.
Compensation:
$20-$28
