Job Description

The Deck / Carpenter Laborer supports the Foreman and construction crew with the building and installation of decks, porches, railings, stairs, and other outdoor living projects. This is a hands-on position that involves preparing jobsites, handling materials, using hand and power tools, assisting with construction tasks, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working outdoors, and able to work effectively as part of a construction crew. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Deck / Carpenter Foreman and crew with all phases of deck and outdoor construction.
  • Load, unload, carry, and organize lumber, decking, tools, equipment, and other materials.
  • Help prepare jobsites for construction, including demolition, cleanup, material staging, and site protection.
  • Assist with measuring, marking, cutting, assembling, and installing construction materials.
  • Support the installation of footings, posts, beams, joists, framing, decking, stairs, railings, and other components.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and properly under direction from the Foreman.
  • Assist with digging, concrete work, framing, fastening, sanding, staining, and general carpentry tasks.
  • Follow plans, instructions, measurements, and directions from the Foreman.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite throughout the workday.
  • Remove debris and complete daily jobsite cleanup.
  • Protect customer property, landscaping, siding, windows, and other surrounding areas.
  • Help maintain and secure tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, material shortages, or project concerns to the Foreman.
  • Assist with punch-list work and final project cleanup.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude with coworkers, customers, and homeowners.
  • Perform other construction-related duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Previous construction, carpentry, landscaping, or general labor experience preferred but not required.
  • Deck-building or residential exterior construction experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn carpentry skills and follow instructions.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools and power tools, or willingness to be trained.
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work well with a crew and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work responsibly.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license preferred. Preferred Experience
  • Experience with decks, framing, remodeling, roofing, siding, landscaping, or other residential construction.
  • Minor roofing experience is a plus, including basic knowledge of shingles, flashing, or roof work associated with covered decks and porches.
  • Experience using tape measures, drills, saws, levels, hammers, and other common construction tools.
  • Experience working from measurements, drawings, or basic construction plans.
Physical Requirements This position requires outdoor construction work and regular physical activity.
Employees must be able to:
  • Lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Regularly lift approximately 50-75 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work on uneven surfaces for extended periods.
  • Safely climb and work from ladders and elevated structures.
  • Use hand tools and power tools.
  • Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.

Pay:
$25.62 - $30.85 per hour
