About Us Rhode Island Restoration handles water, fire, and mold restoration and reconstruction. We are based at 16 Stafford Ct, Cranston, RI. Work is performed at customer job sites throughout Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts, and eastern Connecticut. Role Summary We are building a new two-person reconstruction crew, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Carpenter to lead it. You will run your own crew, independent of our existing crew, working side by side with a dedicated drywall, plaster, and painting specialist. Together, the two of you will handle smaller, primarily residential restoration and reconstruction projects from start to finish after water, fire, and mold damage, with a focus on high-quality finish carpentry: trim, doors, cabinets, and other detailed finish work. This role is a great fit for someone who can manage jobs independently without constant supervision, takes ownership of their work, and represents our company professionally when working directly with homeowners. A company van is provided for the crew. Responsibilities

• Lead a two-person reconstruction crew, working alongside our drywall, plaster, and painting specialist and coordinating the day-to-day work between you.
• Manage smaller, primarily residential reconstruction projects independently from start to finish, without the need for constant supervision.
• Perform high-quality interior trim and finish carpentry: baseboard, casing, crown molding, chair rail, and similar millwork.
• Install kitchen and bath cabinets, interior and exterior doors, and related hardware, along with other detailed finish work.
• Perform light framing and repair work, such as replacing damaged sections of walls, floors, and subfloors (framing an entire house is not required).
• Help with drywall repair as needed.
• Rebuild and restore structures after water, fire, smoke, and mold damage, coordinating with mitigation crews on demolition and dry-out timelines.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings, scopes of work, and estimates; take accurate measurements and calculate materials.
• Communicate directly and professionally with homeowners and clients, and work with project managers on schedules, change orders, and material needs.
• Drive and take care of the company crew van, keeping tools and materials organized.
• Follow job-site safety practices and company safety policies, including proper use of PPE, ladders, scaffolding, and power tools; keep work areas clean and protect customer property.
• Take photos and daily notes of job progress in the company app.
• Perform other reconstruction tasks as assigned. Qualifications
• Senior-level carpenter with 5+ years of professional carpentry experience (residential construction, remodeling, or restoration preferred) and a proven ability to run jobs independently.
• Strong finish carpentry skills (required): trim, doors, cabinets, and other detailed finish work.
• Light framing experience is a plus. Drywall experience is helpful but not required.
• Experience leading or working closely with a small crew, and the ability to plan and organize work for a two-person team.
• Ability to read plans and scopes of work and to take accurate measurements.
• Comfortable communicating and working directly with homeowners and clients; professional, customer-focused attitude, strong attention to detail, and pride in quality work.
• Your own carpentry hand and power tools. We will supplement with any additional tools or equipment the job requires.
• Valid driver's license with no major violations in the last 3 years, since you will be driving the company van.
• OSHA certification a plus (not required).
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, work on ladders and scaffolding, and work in occupied homes and in varying weather conditions. Schedule
• Full-time, Mondayâ€"Friday, 7:30 AM start.
• No on-call requirement. Occasional weekend work may be available but is not required. Pay & Benefits
• $30/hour for a qualified, experienced carpenter.
• Up to $40/hour for someone with extensive, well-documented experience who can independently manage jobs and lead the crew.
