Genesis Carpentry | Madison, Wisconsin No two days. No cookie-cutter jobs. Just good people building things they're proud of. One day you're framing a new deck. The next, you're laying out a porch, building stairs and railings, tackling a tricky repair, or turning a homeowner's idea into something real. If you like variety, enjoy solving problems in the field, and want to lead a crew that takes pride in its work, you'll fit right in at Genesis Carpentry. We're looking for a seasoned carpenter who's ready to take charge of projects and people—not just someone who's been swinging a hammer for a few years. You'll be hands-on, organize the work, guide the crew, and make sure every project is done right. This is a full-time, year-round position with steady work and a new challenge around the corner.
Starting pay:

Work hands-on while setting the standard for workmanship, pace, safety, and professionalism. Help plan each day's work, organize materials, and keep projects moving. Guide and train team members, making sure work is completed correctly. Build and repair decks, porches, pergolas, screen rooms, stairs, railings, and other exterior carpentry features. Perform framing, structural repairs, finish carpentry, and related siding, soffit, fascia, and trim work as needed. Troubleshoot existing-home conditions and find practical solutions in the field. Coordinate with the Carpentry Manager and communicate professionally with homeowners. Start projects with the homeowner, explain the work, and keep them informed as the project progresses. Complete punch-list items, close out projects, and submit completion paperwork. Keep jobsites clean, protect customers' homes and property, and follow safe work practices. What We're Looking For 10 or more years of residential carpentry or remodeling experience , with a strong record of leading people and projects. Strong framing and finish carpentry skills. The judgment and confidence to lead a crew, make sound decisions in the field, and keep work moving. Experience training team members and holding the crew accountable for quality. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The ability to read measurements, plans, work orders, and installation specifications. The ability to work independently and communicate clearly with homeowners and the Carpentry Manager. A professional, respectful approach in customers' homes. A valid Wisconsin driver's license and an insurable driving record for company trucks. Your own basic hand tools and the ability to safely handle construction materials. Pride in your work and a commitment to customer satisfaction. What Genesis Offers $34-$38 per hour to start , based on qualifications and experience. Full-time, year-round work. Health and dental insurance options. Paid time off. 401(k) with company match. A respectful, professional work environment. Training and support from an established local team. A wide variety of residential carpentry projects throughout the Madison area. The Right Person You're a seasoned carpenter who takes ownership of the work and helps the people around you do their best. You can move from one kind of project to another, adapt when an older home throws you a curveball, and keep the crew focused on quality. You understand that a great job includes the finished product, a clean worksite, and how customers are treated along the way. If you're ready to lead from the front, stay busy, and build something different almost every day, let's talk.
