Job Description

Position Summary The Structural Concrete Superintendent provides hands-on leadership for field operations from layout and formwork through reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, curing, stripping, and closeout. This role directs crews and subcontractors, coordinates labor, materials, and equipment, and ensures each phase is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable codes. Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of superintendent experience leading structural concrete construction.
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to set forms and install reinforcing steel.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple concrete form systems and safe erection, bracing, stripping, and reshoring practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, details, shop drawings, and construction schedules.
  • Experience planning concrete pours and coordinating labor, equipment, materials, inspections, and testing.
  • Proven ability to lead crews, solve field problems, maintain productivity, and deliver quality work.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety requirements and quality-control practices.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate field documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project locations for extended assignments as business needs require. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate daily structural concrete activities, including layout, forming, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, concrete placement, finishing, curing, stripping, and patching.
  • Develop short-term work plans, crew assignments, pour sequences, and material and equipment forecasts to meet project milestones.
  • Set and verify forms for footings, walls, columns, beams, slabs, elevated decks, and other structural concrete elements.
  • Direct and participate in rebar installation, including placement of reinforcing steel, dowels, embeds, and block outs in accordance with contract documents.
  • Read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, structural plans, specifications, shop drawings, and approved submittals.
  • Plan and execute work using multiple formwork systems, including handset, gang, modular, wall, column, beam, slab, and shoring systems.
  • Supervise foremen, craft employees, and subcontractors; coach team members and hold crews accountable for safety, productivity, and workmanship.
  • Coordinate concrete deliveries, pumps, cranes, inspections, testing agencies, vendors, and adjacent trades to support efficient pours.
  • Inspect formwork, rebar, embeds, elevations, dimensions, and complete concrete; identify deficiencies and ensure timely corrective action.
  • Enforce company safety policies, project-specific plans, and applicable regulatory requirements; conduct pre-task planning and safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, labor and equipment records, production quantities, inspection documentation, and schedule updates.
  • Communicate field conditions, constraints, changes, and recovery plans to project management while helping control labor, material, and equipment costs. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy civil structural concrete projects.
  • Knowledge of layout and survey practices, concrete tolerances, and applicable ACI standards.
  • OSHA 30, first aid/CPR, competent person, rigging, or other relevant safety certifications.
  • Experience with scheduling, digital plan review, and field reporting software.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements This is a field-based position performed primarily on active construction sites. The employee must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, walk and stand for extended periods, climb ladders and stairs, navigate uneven terrain, and safely lift or carry materials and tools consistent with job requirements. Work may include early starts, extended hours, nights, or weekends to support project schedules and concrete placements. Up to $125,000.00 per year
