Position Overview Hudson Peaks is seeking an experienced Multi-Certified Special Inspector to support construction projects throughout Northern and Central New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan area . Candidates should be qualified to perform inspections involving structural masonry, soils/compaction, reinforcing steel, and concrete placement . The ideal candidate will have at least a few years of construction inspection or construction materials testing experience and possess qualifying credentials across all three disciplines. Hudson Peaks schedules inspectors with project logistics in mind. Whenever project requirements allow, assignments are coordinated to keep inspectors closer to their home area and reduce unnecessary travel time. Candidates based in Northern or North-Central New Jersey are particularly well situated for this position. Key Responsibilities Perform structural masonry special inspections. Perform soils inspections involving fill placement, compaction, and associated field testing. Perform nuclear density gauge testing for soil compaction where assigned and authorized. Perform reinforcing steel/rebar inspections prior to concrete placement. Perform concrete placement inspections. Review applicable construction drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements. Prepare accurate and timely daily field inspection reports. Document deficiencies and communicate field conditions to project management. Coordinate professionally with contractors, engineers, clients, and other project representatives. Travel to construction sites throughout Northern and Central New Jersey and the New York City metropolitan area, including occasional assignments in New York City and Staten Island. Required Qualifications Candidates must possess a qualifying credential in each of the following three areas: Structural Masonry ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector. Soils - One of the following ICC Soils Special Inspector; NICET Construction Materials Testing - Soils Level II or higher; or Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering with relevant field experience. Reinforcing Steel / Concrete ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector; or ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector (CCSI). Nuclear Gauge Requirement Candidates performing soil compaction testing must have current training applicable to the safe operation and transportation of a portable nuclear density gauge, including appropriate radiation safety/nuclear gauge operator training and

training from APNGA, Troxler, or another accepted training provider. Inspectors must also be eligible to operate the equipment under the employer's radiation safety program. Additional Qualifications Approximately 2+ years of relevant construction inspection, special inspection, or construction materials testing experience preferred . Reliable transportation required. Ability to travel throughout Northern and Central New Jersey and the NYC metropolitan area. Ability to work independently in active construction environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare accurate field inspection reports. New Jersey DCA Certification Applicants who do not currently hold New Jersey DCA Special Inspector certifications are encouraged to apply. Candidates possessing the necessary underlying qualifications are strongly encouraged to obtain their applicable NJDCA Special Inspector certifications . NJDCA-certified inspectors may qualify for a higher rate and access to dedicated long-term New Jersey project assignments. Current NJDCA processing time is approximately one month , and the current cost is $91 per Special Inspector certification approval . Work Schedule Full-time Field-based Approximately 30-50 hours per week , depending on construction activity Schedule may vary based on client and project requirements Soils inspection assignments may provide additional work during seasonal construction slowdowns Compensation $36.00-$38.00 per hour , commensurate with qualifications and experience.
