This position is responsible for coordinating daily field operations, maintaining production and quality standards, enforcing safe work practices, and communicating effectively with General Contractors, project management, and crew members. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fireproofing materials and equipment and understands the complete installation process, including surface conditions, masking and protection, material mixing, pumping, spraying, thickness requirements, quality control, and troubleshooting equipment. This is a leadership position for someone who takes ownership of their projects, plans ahead, solves problems proactively, and treats both employees and customers professionally. The Foreman is expected to work toward completing projects safely, on schedule, and within established labor and material budgets while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and coordinate fireproofing crews on commercial construction projects. Understand spray-applied fire-resistive materials (SFRM), their application, installation requirements, and proper field procedures. Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fireproofing pumps, mixers, hoses, spray equipment, and related tools. Perform fireproofing application/spraying when needed to support the crew and maintain production. Read and interpret construction drawings, architectural and structural plans, specifications, details, and applicable fireproofing requirements. Review project scope with the Estimator/Project Manager before starting work to understand contract requirements, inclusions/exclusions, production goals, labor budgets, material quantities, and target numbers. Plan daily manpower, equipment, materials, and work areas to maintain efficient production and meet project schedules. Coordinate work and scheduling with General Contractors and other trades to ensure areas are ready and accessible for fireproofing. Attend subcontractor coordination meetings, pre-construction meetings, pre-installation meetings, and other project meetings as required. Communicate schedule changes, jobsite conditions, delays, additional work, and potential scope issues to management in a timely manner. Conduct quality-control inspections throughout installation, including checking material thickness, coverage, adhesion, application, and overall workmanship. Identify deficiencies and correct issues before inspection whenever possible. Maintain accurate daily documentation and complete basic field administrative requirements, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Competent Person forms, daily reports, and other required safety/project documentation. Use Procore for project drawings, documentation, communication, photos, and other project-related tasks. Understand and enforce applicable OSHA requirements and company safety policies . Conduct daily safety planning and ensure crews use required PPE and follow safe work practices. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Monitor crew productivity, material usage, and labor hours against established project goals. Recognize potential production or budget issues early and work with management to develop solutions. Proactively identify jobsite conflicts, sequencing issues, access problems, and conditions that could affect fireproofing installation. Maintain professional relationships with General Contractors, inspectors, other trades, employees, and project stakeholders. Lead by example and create a respectful, team-oriented work environment. Professional communication is required; abusive, threatening, excessively confrontational, or disrespectful behavior toward employees, customers, or other trades will not be tolerated. Qualifications Previous commercial fireproofing experience is required, with prior foreman or crew-lead experience strongly preferred. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of fireproofing installation, equipment, and quality-control procedures, along with the ability to read construction drawings and specifications. The successful candidate should be comfortable using Procore and basic mobile/tablet technology, understand OSHA construction safety requirements, and be capable of completing basic jobsite paperwork and documentation. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, goal-oriented, organized, proactive, and professional . This person should be able to hold a crew accountable without creating an unnecessarily hostile work environment, communicate effectively with General Contractors and management, and step in to help the crew when needed.
