Solar General Laborer Job Description This role supports the construction and installation of commercial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on rooftop and carport structures throughout Arizona. You will work as part of a field installation team to assemble racking systems, place and secure solar modules, and assist with general construction activities. The position is physically demanding, requires comfort working outdoors and at heights, and involves travel to various jobsites, with the initial assignment on a carport solar project in Surprise, Arizona. Responsibilities Assist with the construction and installation of commercial-scale solar PV systems on flat roofs, pitched roofs, and carport structures. Assemble and install racking systems in accordance with project plans and safety standards. Place, align, and securely fasten solar modules on rooftop and carport structures. Pull and route wiring as directed to support the electrical installation of solar systems. Support foremen and the installation team to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project completion. Use hand and power tools safely and correctly for cutting, fastening, and assembling components. Handle, move, and stage materials, equipment, and tools around the jobsite. Perform general construction duties, including measuring, cutting, fastening, and basic mechanical tasks. Maintain a clean and organized jobsite by assisting with debris removal and site cleanup. Follow all safety protocols, including working safely at heights and in various weather conditions. Travel to different jobsites within the region and arrive on time, ready to work each day. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and resolve issues on site. Essential Skills Prior construction labor experience, including working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work safely and effectively at heights on flat roofs, pitched roofs, and carport structures. Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools and basic power tools. Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Ability to stand and be on your feet for 8+ hours per day. Reliable transportation and willingness to commute up to an hour to different jobsites throughout the valley. Strong work ethic with a reliable, punctual, and hardworking approach. Ability to follow safety protocols and instructions from foremen and supervisors. Comfort working in an outdoor construction environment starting early in the morning. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with general labor on commercial construction projects. Familiarity with solar installation or renewable energy construction is beneficial but not required. Ability to adapt to changing jobsite locations and schedules based on project needs. Willingness to learn new tasks and support different aspects of solar installation work. Interest in growing within the solar construction industry and transitioning to a long-term role. Work Environment This is an outdoor construction role based on active solar jobsites. The initial assignment is on a carport solar project in Surprise, Arizona, with future work at various locations throughout the valley. The current schedule is Monday through Friday starting at 5:00 a.m., with hours subject to change depending on weather and project requirements. You will work primarily on rooftops and carport structures, often at heights and in varying weather conditions, including heat. The environment is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the jobsite safety attire, and you will regularly use hand tools and basic power tools while working closely with a field installation crew. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Surprise, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
