Santa Rosa / North Bay LAD Excavation is looking for a dependable, hardworking Excavation Laborer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position supporting excavation, underground utility, grading, drainage, and site development projects throughout the North Bay. You'll work alongside foremen and equipment operators performing trench work, pipe installation, backfill, compaction, site cleanup, and other field tasks. We're looking for someone who works hard, communicates well, takes direction, and takes pride in doing quality work. Perform general labor in support of excavation, grading, underground utility, drainage, and sitework operations
Perform hand excavation, trench work, grading, backfill, compaction, and jobsite cleanup
Assist with installation of sewer, storm drain, water, and other underground piping and utilities
Assist equipment operators and foremen during excavation and grading operations
Spot equipment and trucks and maintain safe working clearances around personnel, utilities, structures, and equipment
Assist with placement and compaction of aggregate base, bedding, backfill, and other construction materials
Install and maintain erosion control and jobsite protection measures as directed
Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools and materials
Maintain clean and orderly jobsites, work trucks, tools, and equipment
Communicate completed work, field conditions, and potential issues to the foreman
Assist with jobsite photo and video documentation as requested
Accurately report hours worked and materials used or handled
Follow company safety procedures and required PPE practices at all times What We're Looking For
Previous excavation, underground utility, grading, drainage, or civil construction experience preferred
Familiarity with trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfill, and compaction
Experience working safely around excavators, skid steers, loaders, compactors, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment
Ability to safely and effectively use common construction hand and power tools
Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
Ability to follow direction and complete assigned tasks correctly with minimal rework
Positive attitude and team-first mindset
Safety-conscious and respectful of equipment and coworkers
Willingness to perform physical work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions
Basic understanding of grades, elevations, measurements, construction plans, laser levels, or other grade-control equipment is a plus
Experience with concrete prep, forms, rebar, concrete placement, screeding, vibrating, finishing, or curing is a plus Success Looks Like
