Fabrication Shop Laborer / Welder Summary The Fabrication Shop Laborer supports daily operations within Southern Pros fabrication shop by handling truss movement, staging, material prep, and general shop assistances. This role ensures nished trusses are properly stored, painted, and pulled for customer orders while maintaining safe, efficient workflow throughout the shop. The Fabrication Shop Laborer also operates basic fabrication equipment and assists welders, fabricators, and other team members as needed. This position reports to the Fabrication Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Welding - Mig and Tig of various components of fabrication. Truss Handling & Shop Flow Assist in the coordination and execution of daily oice operations and administrative tasks. Provide support to managers at all levels to ensure organizational efficiency. Maintain organized systems and processes to support workow and communication. Painting & Finishing Paint trusses according to Southern Pro standards, ensuring full coverage and proper curing. Inspect painted trusses for quality and touch up as needed. Maintain painting equipment and keep the paint area clean and organized. Equipment Operation Operate band saws, punches, and other basic shop equipment safely and accurately. Assist with cutting, prepping, and staging materials for welders and fabricators. Report equipment issues or maintenance needs to the Fabrication Division Manager. Hazardous equipment will be handled on the job site. General Shop Support Assist team members with daily tasks, including material movement, cleanup, and workow support. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and shop procedures. Support special projects as directed. Communication & Coordination Communicate clearly with welders, fabricators, and the Fabrication Manager regarding job status and material needs. Notify the Fabrication Manager of shortages, delays, or quality concerns. Uphold Southern Pros standards of professionalism, teamwork, and reliability. Qualifications Ability to safely lift, move, and position trusses and steel components. Operate forklifts and other moving equipment. Experience operating basic shop equipment (band saws, punches, etc.) preferred. Willingness to learn fabrication processes and support multiple shop functions. Work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety. Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced shop environment.
