Summary Performs a variety of residential repair, maintenance, and rehabilitation activities to improve the safety, livability, and functionality of homes. This position supports housing improvement projects by completing minor to moderate repairs, assisting skilled tradespeople, and performing general construction and maintenance work. Work may be performed in occupied or vacant homes and requires professionalism, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards. Essential Functions
  • Perform routine home repair and maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Repair or replace damaged building materials, fixtures, and components.
  • Conduct basic carpentry repairs, including doors, windows, trim, cabinets, and flooring.
  • Install or repair drywall, insulation, and wall finishes.
  • Patch holes, repair cracks, and prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Repair and replace damaged siding, steps, porches, and exterior structures
  • Paint interior walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
  • Install or replace flooring materials, including laminate, vinyl, and carpet.
  • Assist with kitchen and bathroom improvement projects.
  • Repair or install shelves, cabinets, countertops, and fixtures.
  • Replace faucets, fixtures, toilets, and other basic plumbing components.
  • Replace light fixtures, switches, outlets

  • Work is primarily performed at residential homes and housing rehabilitation sites.
  • Exposure to construction hazards, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Work assignments may vary daily based on housing repair priorities and project needs.
  • Travel between multiple worksites may be required. Physical Demands
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at various heights.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and maintenance equipment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is an on-call part-time position.
TYPICAL DAYS AND HOURS OF WORK ARE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 8
to 4:30pm. Experience
  • Basic carpentry and construction skills.
  • Knowledge of residential repair methods and materials.
  • Ability to read work orders, measurements, and simple project plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, and team members.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality. Education
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, construction, carpentry, landscaping, or related trades preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, repair techniques, and tool usage.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong work ethic and dependability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
