Full-Time Position Summary We are hiring dependable, safety-conscious individuals for two experience levels within our underground utility construction crew: Foreman / Equipment Operator and Operator / Laborer . Our work includes installing water lines, sewer lines, gas lines, storm drains, and other underground infrastructure. We prioritize efficiency, productivity, quality workmanship, teamwork, and jobsite safety. Candidates must be willing to work hands-on, operate equipment within their qualifications, and contribute to completing projects safely and on schedule. Position 1: Underground Utility Foreman / Equipment Operator Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and coordinate crews, daily work activities, manpower, equipment, and production with efficiency in mind. Operate motor graders (blades), excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, and other heavy equipment. Asphalt/laydown operator experience is a major plus. Read and interpret construction plans, utility profiles, specifications, elevations, grades, and slopes. Oversee excavation, trenching, pipe installation, bedding, alignment, backfill, compaction, and final grading for water, sewer, gas, and storm drain systems. Coordinate utility locates, potholing, trench protection, inspections, pressure tests, bacteriological (Bac-T) water tests, and compaction tests. Monitor labor, materials, equipment, quantities, costs, and schedules while minimizing waste, downtime, and rework. Coordinate with management, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades; identify field conflicts and report discrepancies or delays. Conduct safety briefings, enforce PPE and safety requirements, inspect equipment, and maintain a safe, organized jobsite. Train and mentor crew members, maintain accountability, perform hands-on work as needed, and complete daily reports and documentation. Use company-issued tablets to access plans, specifications, and project details through Procore or Google Drive. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of underground utility construction experience, with foreman-level leadership experience preferred. Proven ability to lead a crew independently and operate blades, excavators, backhoes, and other construction equipment. Strong understanding of water, sewer, gas, storm drain, pipe bedding, backfill, compaction, utility locating, trench safety, and applicable OSHA requirements. Ability to interpret civil plans, coordinate grades and elevations, and manage daily production requirements. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Gas Operator Qualification (OQ) is a major plus. If not currently OQ-qualified, required certification training will be made available through Ricky N Rocko and must be completed within six months of hire. Position 2: Underground Utility Operator / Laborer Responsibilities Operate excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, and other equipment as qualified. Assist with excavation, trenching, pipe laying, bedding, alignment, connections, grade checks, backfill, compaction, and grading. Assist with water, sewer, gas, storm drain, and other utility installations. Gas installation work requiring OQ qualification may only be performed by qualified personnel. Locate and protect existing utilities; perform hand digging and potholing as needed. Assist with trench boxes and protective systems, material handling, traffic control, site cleanup, and equipment maintenance. Load, unload, and organize pipe, fittings, tools, materials, and equipment. Follow plans, specifications, and instructions from the foreman or superintendent. Conduct equipment inspections, report unsafe conditions, follow company and OSHA safety requirements, and wear company attire in accordance with company policy. Qualifications Previous underground utility construction experience preferred; experience operating excavators, backhoes, skid steers, or similar equipment required. Knowledge of trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfill, compaction, and basic construction grades preferred. Valid driver's license preferred; CDL is a plus. Must be dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, able to follow directions, communicate effectively, and work as part of a crew. Physical Requirements, Schedule, and Work Environment Both positions require outdoor work in varying weather conditions at active construction sites. Employees must be able to navigate uneven terrain, work around heavy equipment and excavations, lift and carry materials and tools, climb in and out of equipment, and perform physical labor as needed. Excavations must be accessed using approved methods. Full-time employment may require early starts, overtime, occasional weekends, and travel between job locations. Safety and Performance Expectations All employees must follow company safety policies, applicable OSHA requirements, PPE rules, excavation protection procedures, and underground utility locating requirements. The foreman is responsible for crew safety, production, scheduling, quality control, documentation, and communication with management. Operators and laborers are responsible for following directions, maintaining equipment and work areas, performing assigned tasks safely, and contributing to efficient, quality project completion.
