Job Description

New Terrain Grading is the sitework division of J. Davis Inc., a family-owned organization providing construction, grading, supplemental maintenance, and industrial services to South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. With four divisions and three offices in the coastal and upstate regions of South Carolina, we are proud to offer superior services to the southeastern United States. Be a member of our team and help us level the playing field. Skilled Site Work Laborers are important support for our Civil Division grading team. Successful candidates must have a strong work ethic and be able to work in the elements.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Understand risks and safety hazards. Understands safety manual and OSHA requirements. General understating of civil drawings, phases of work, specifications, and CEPSI Reports. General understanding of erosion and storm water control and best general practices Participate in daily job safety hazard meetings and constantly identify and prevent safety hazards. Assists with performing daily preventative maintenance checklists. Assist with cleaning trash and dirt from equipment daily inside cab and on exterior including tracks. Can operate Level One Equipment safely with oversite such as skid steers, compaction equipment and mini excavators. Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor to support grading operations in the field. Tasks include but are not limited to: shoveling, raking, cutting, mudding storm water drainage boxes, driving stakes using sledge hammer and sweeping. Maintain a clean job site, pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day. Material handling and storage. Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials. Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Report problems to Supervisor, Superintendent or Management. Assist Equipment Operators in performing routine maintenance on equipment (clean and grease) Competent person Training on Trenching, Rigging, and equipment to be operated Read entire equipment manual on equipment to operate and assessment conducted by supervisor
Skills and Qualifications:
Must be able to withstand the physical requirements of the job (standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., etc.) OSHA 10 Preferred, but Not Required. We are willing to provide training if needed.
