Overview As a CDL possessing Laborer, you will be expected to safely perform manual labor to assist with the underground cabling utilities department. Safety is at the forefront of all that we do at United. You will be expected to drive heavy machinery on trucks or on trailers following DOT safety guidelines, and once at the worksite, will be expected to perform all the same duties as other laborers. CDL Laborers will be trained to operate basic site machinery (i.e. trenchers and excavators), but will also be responsible for basic functions in the field such as site preparation and clean-up. You will be responsible for the maintenance of driver's license requirements for your CDL and FED-MED card, and will be added to the FMCSA quarterly random drug test cycle. These roles are generally considered entry level as far as the construction / utilities industry is concerned, but your driving record must be excellent. Duties Adhere to all safety, OSHA and DNR regulations that we may be subject to on a jobsite. Driving trucks/trailers that weigh 26k lbs.+ (or less depending on daily needs.) to haul equipment and more. Maintenance of CDL. Site preparation and clean-up to include removing debris, retrieving tools and materials and ensuring no hazards are present. Digging, backfilling, etc. Assisting tradesmen as needed. Material handling - loading and unloading of materials. Take instructions from foremen and superintendents and show and ability to follow through. Operation of heavy and light equipment as your training permits. Will involve the use of hand and power equipment. Dependability and good attendance, including an ability to be called upon for overtime or emergency jobs as needed. Skills Proficient in driving vehicles with or without trailers. Experience with flatbed trucking, tanker operations, and general truck driving responsibilities. Familiarity with delivery driver experience, including route driving and freight handling. Ability to operate forklifts for loading and unloading tasks safely. Knowledge of dump truck operations and roll-off truck functionality is a plus. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols while on the road or at construction sites.
