YMCA YOUR NEXT JOB COULD MAKE A LIFELONG DIFFERENCE.
What if your afternoons could be spent inspiring young minds, creating memorable experiences, and helping students discover what they're capable of? At the YMCA of the East Bay, we're looking for enthusiastic, dependable, and growth-minded Group Leaders to join our YMCA Y Scholars Program. As a Group Leader, you'll lead a group of elementary or middle school students through an afternoon filled with learning, creativity, movement, and connection. You'll facilitate engaging activities, support academic growth, encourage positive behavior, and build relationships that help students feel valued and confident. One afternoon might involve a science challenge, a basketball game, or a creative arts project. Another might be about helping a student overcome frustration, discover a new interest, or develop the confidence to speak up. Every afternoon brings a new opportunity to lead, inspire, and make a difference. We're looking for people who are ready to jump in, bring ideas, take initiative, and create an experience students look forward to. Our Team's Vision and Mission At the YMCA Y Scholars Program, we envision a world where every student discovers their purpose and reaches their full potential. Every day, we elevate youth voice through meaningful enrichment experiences that promote leadership learning and healthy habits. We believe students thrive when they have opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, build positive relationships, and discover their strengths. Does your mission align with ours? About the YMCA Y Scholars Program The YMCA Y Scholars Program is part of the YMCA of the East Bay. We partner with schools throughout West Contra Costa and Oakland to provide high-quality out-of-school-time programs that support student learning, development, and well-being. Physical Play:
Promoting active lifestyles, teamwork, confidence, and healthy habits through sports, games, and movement.
Academic Achievement:
Strengthening academic skills and curiosity through homework support, literacy, STEAM, and engaging educational experiences.
Creative Curiosity:
Encouraging imagination, exploration, innovation, and self-expression through creative arts and hands-on projects. Together, these experiences help students build the confidence, skills, and relationships they need to succeed in school and beyond. Our Mission Starts With Strong Team Members... We believe great programs are built by people who care deeply about the students they serve and take pride in the work they do. Our Group Leaders are more than supervisors. They are mentors, facilitators, role models, and positive influences who help shape the experiences students have every day. We're looking for individuals who bring energy and enthusiasm, take initiative, and understand the importance of being present and engaged. Our strongest team members embrace a growth mindset. They welcome feedback, take ownership of their responsibilities, support their teammates, and continuously look for ways to improve. They recognize that leadership isn't about having a title. It's about the example you set, the relationships you build, and the actions you take.
