Interior Design Construction Project Manager •this is an independent contractor position| local applicants only•Danville, CA | Hybrid (1-2 days/week in-office, remote otherwise) About the Role We're looking for someone who gets genuinely excited watching a room go from demo to done. Maybe you're the person who remodeled your own kitchen and now all your friends are texting you for advice. Maybe you went to design school and realized somewhere along the way that you actually love the construction side more than the furnishings. Either way — if you love HGTV a little too much and can't help but notice tile layout when you walk into a bathroom, keep reading. This is a hands-on role. You'll be running job sites, making real-time calls with electricians, chasing down last-minute tile decisions, and keeping high-end residential projects moving from first framing walkthrough to final punch list. You'll work closely with our design team, not in isolation — this is a collaborative role where you're part of a bigger creative vision, not just managing a checklist. You must live within local driving distance of Danville/WalnutCreek/Lafayette. Job site visits often happen in the morning, and last-minute requests to meet an electrician or make an on-the-spot tile call come up more than you'd expect. This isn't a role you can do from across the Bay. You must also be highly organized and detail orientated because you will be juggling many constantly changing to do lists. What You'll Actually Be Doing Leading multiple interior construction projects from planning through closeout — keeping timelines and budgets on track Being the connective tissue between clients, architects, designers, subcontractors, and vendors so nothing falls through the cracks Building and managing project schedules in Asana and Google Drive, adjusting on the fly when (not if) things shift Reading construction plans, blueprints, and specs closely enough to catch issues before they become expensive problems Handling estimating, contract negotiations, and change orders — keeping costs in check without losing quality Running site visits and inspections, making sure safety protocols and local building codes are actually being followed, not just checked off Reading a tile schedule fluently, understanding what materials should (and shouldn't) be used where, and yes — occasionally running out to grab a last-minute box of grout because that's just part of the job What You Bring 2+ years of hands-on experience with on-site home remodels — kitchens, baths, whole-home this isn't an entry-level or purely design-side role. Neither are we seeking a drafter or architect. Must live locally (see above this one's non-negotiable) A real understanding of tile, stone, fabrication, and finish selections : you know the difference between what looks good on paper and what actually works in the field Comfort with construction estimating, contract admin, blueprint reading, and juggling multiple live project plans You know you get more with honey than vinegar : but you also know that trades respect people who ask good questions, show up prepared, and treat the crew with respect, not people who just nod along You're not afraid to speak up. If something doesn't look right or a process seems off, you'll ask why and push back on professionals when it matters, always in service of the client and the project Ability to draft plans in
