Project Manager- Mechanical Construction Project Manager -
HVAC & Plumbing Location:
Merced, CA Salary:
$110-145k DOE Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Project Manager with strong HVAC and plumbing experience to lead commercial and/or residential construction projects from planning through closeout. The PM will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards by coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, managing contract documents and RFIs, and overseeing site activities and inspections. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end project delivery for HVAC and plumbing scopes, including planning, scheduling, budgeting and closeout. Manage and review contract documents, subcontracts and change orders to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Initiate, track and resolve RFIs and maintain clear documentation of project communications and decisions. Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and vendors; establish work priorities, review performance and ensure adherence to scope and schedule. Conduct regular site walkthroughs and inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance and alignment with project specifications. Monitor project costs, prepare forecasts, track invoices and manage cost control measures to meet budget targets. Develop and maintain project schedules, identify critical path activities and proactively address potential delays. Prepare and compile project closeout documentation, punch lists and as-built records for client handover. Foster strong vendor and client relationships, act as primary point of contact for project stakeholders and provide regular progress reports. Enforce site safety protocols and coordinate with safety officers to ensure regulatory and company standards are met. Qualifications Minimum 5 years project management experience with HVAC and plumbing systems in construction or MEP environments. Proven experience with contract documents, RFIs and project closeout processes (preferred). Strong knowledge of installation methods, codes and inspection criteria for HVAC and plumbing. Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors, vendors and on-site teams effectively. Experience with project cost tracking, budgeting and invoice review. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, PlanGrid or similar). Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
