Construction Manager Assistant —
Residential Homebuilding James Engle Custom Homes LLC Kansas City Metro Area Salary:
$45,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience Full-time Build a career in homebuilding. James Engle Custom Homes is looking for an organized, dependable person who wants to learn residential construction and grow into a construction manager role. We specialize in new homes and teardown-and-rebuild projects throughout the Kansas City metro, including Prairie Village, Fairway, and Leawood. You'll work alongside our construction managers, gaining hands-on experience and learning what it takes to manage homes from start to finish. Construction experience is helpful, but it is not required. We're willing to train someone who is organized, takes initiative, follows through, and is interested in learning. What you'll do Assist construction managers with daily field operations across multiple homes. Keep active jobsites clean, organized, secure, and ready for the next stage of construction. Keep completed homes looking their best and ready for showings, including interior cleanliness, lawn watering, landscaping upkeep, and seasonal property care. Prepare homes for walkthroughs, complete assigned punch-list items, and handle minor repairs within your training and ability. Check homes for maintenance needs, water issues, and other concerns, and promptly report problems to the construction manager. Document issues, update task lists, and follow through until assigned work is complete. Organize appliance manuals and homeowner materials before handoff. Keep your company vehicle, tools, and supplies clean, organized, and ready for work. Communicate professionally with coworkers, subcontractors, homeowners, and others on our jobsites. This is an active, hands-on field position. Cleaning, organizing, property upkeep, and taking care of small details are important parts of the job—and part of learning to manage a home's construction successfully. Who we're looking for Someone who wants a long-term career in residential construction. Strong organization and attention to detail. Dependability, initiative, and the ability to follow through without repeated reminders. A willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and learn. Clear communication and a professional, respectful attitude. A neat, clean, professional appearance, with clean clothing appropriate for construction work. Someone who represents James Engle Custom Homes courteously with homeowners, neighbors, subcontractors, and coworkers. Comfort using a phone, tablet, and construction-management software to track work and communicate. Willingness to work indoors and outdoors and travel between local jobsites. Previous construction, maintenance, or trade experience will be considered when determining starting pay, but we welcome applicants who are ready to learn. A pathway to construction management Our goal is to help the right person develop into a construction manager who takes ownership of homes under construction—from coordinating trades and schedules to overseeing quality, solving problems, and preparing homes for delivery. As your knowledge, judgment, and performance develop, you'll have opportunities to take on greater responsibility with support from our team.
