New Construction, Facility Renovations & Commercial Interior Build-Outs Skilled Construction. Professional Field Leadership. Long-Term Opportunity. Boyers Construction is looking for an experienced commercial construction professional who combines strong hands-on trade skills with the ability to lead crews, coordinate subcontractors, and help manage organized, productive jobsites. Our projects include new buildings, additions, facility renovations, and commercial interior build-outs, all requiring quality workmanship, effective trade coordination, and attention to architectural detail. This is a hands-on Assistant Superintendent position with jobsite management responsibilities—not a supervision-only role. You'll perform skilled construction work alongside our crews while supporting the Project Manager and/or Site Superintendent with daily jobsite operations, short-term planning, quality control, deliveries, subcontractor coordination, and overall field execution. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and wants to build a long-term career with a growing company. Commercial Experience That Fits This Role Candidates should bring a strong commercial carpentry foundation and practical experience across several of the following scopes. Experience in every area is not required. Layout, demolition, and framing: Layout from architectural drawings, selective demolition, metal-stud and wood framing, partitions, soffits, bulkheads, blocking, and backing.
Walls and ceilings:
Drywall assemblies, acoustical ceilings, wall protection, and coordination of above-ceiling work before concealment. Doors, frames, and hardware: Hollow-metal frames, commercial doors, closers, exit devices, and installation to architectural door schedules.
Finishes and specialties:
Casework, millwork, countertops, toilet partitions, restroom accessories, detailed finish work, punch lists, and project turnover. The mix of self-performed and subcontracted work varies by project. We don't expect you to perform every trade, but we do expect broad commercial construction knowledge, versatility, and a willingness to contribute across multiple scopes. What You'll Do Build and lead production: Perform skilled construction work alongside our crews, establish daily priorities, maintain productivity and workmanship standards, and help organize labor, tools, equipment, and materials. Mentor and develop less-experienced employees.
Coordinate jobsite activities:
Help oversee daily operations across multiple trades and subcontractors, including framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ceilings, and finishes. Identify conflicts and coordinate solutions before they cause delays or rework.
Plan ahead:
Support short-term schedules, confirm subcontractor readiness, coordinate deliveries and material staging, and anticipate upcoming labor, equipment, and project needs.
Maintain quality:
Hold high workmanship standards across every phase, from concealed framing to finished architectural details. Review work against drawings and specifications, identify deficiencies, protect completed work, and drive punch-list completion.
Support overall field management:
Maintain safety, housekeeping, jobsite organization, and protection of occupied areas. Document progress, communicate jobsite issues, and work closely with project management to maintain schedules and keep all aspects of the project moving forward. What You Bring 7+ years of verifiable hands-on construction experience (10+ preferred) with substantial commercial project experience. Previous experience as an assistant superintendent, working foreman, lead carpenter, crew leader, or similar field leader, supported by project examples and references. Proven ability to lead and develop crews while remaining personally productive in skilled construction work. Ability to read architectural drawings, specifications, door and finish schedules, and shop drawings, with a practical understanding of construction sequencing and coordination between trades. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and project leadership. Comfort with digital drawings, daily reports, photos, and project-management software. Buildertrend experience and relevant safety or equipment training are a plus.
Ownership and versatility:
The ability to anticipate challenges, take responsibility for results, and balance hands-on construction, crew leadership, subcontractor coordination, and overall jobsite management. Experience limited to one repetitive trade will not meet the requirements. What We Offer Competitive compensation based on commercial experience, technical skill, and leadership ability. Company vehicle or vehicle allowance. 401(k) with company match. Competitive health care plan. Profit-sharing program. Long-term career growth with direct access to company leadership and opportunities to take on greater project management and superintendent-level responsibilities. This is an opportunity to become an important part of Boyers Construction's long-term field-leadership team and help shape the continued growth and success of our commercial division. How to Apply Apply through our website at www.boyersconstruction.com or email your resume to hr@boyersconstruction.com with the subject line "Commercial Working Assistant Superintendent."
