GED Full Job Description Primary Purpose:
The purpose of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grant is to provide services and academic enrichment activities that help students improve in academics, attendance, behavior, promotion rates and graduation rates. Preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. The 21st CCLC instructor, under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, facilitates and leads programs and activities in accordance with program and center policies. Part-time hours Monday through Friday (schedule may vary).
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate Associates Degree (preferred) Bachelor's Degree (preferred) Certified Teacher (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to instructing reading, writing, mathematics, and/or music Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively Ability to lesson plan
Experience:
Some experience working with children Experience in school setting (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support:
Provide instruction to students under the direction of the Site Coordinator. Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Help keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Successfully incorporate the program vision, goals, and objectives into the activities of the site. Assist Site Coordinator in designing, developing and managing program components that lead to positive outcomes for participating children and their families. Support the team that includes the Site Coordinator, Principal, and all other staff, and community volunteers. Actively participate in staff development workshops that are designed to contribute to personal and professional growth. Design, plan and facilitate activities of students or adults. Create hands-on lesson plans for the coming month in advance. Request needed supplies, materials and support in advance from the site coordinator.
Student Management:
Supervise students during the program, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other:
Follow local policies Follow 21st CCLC Grant Guidelines Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Must be present regularly in person.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Actively participate in all training and staff support activities and workshops required by the program. Supervise students and parents during program activities.. Assist in maintaining the safety of students. Perform routine first aid and seek assistance for serious illness/injury. Assist in maintaining the maximum number of students enrolled. Complete daily reports (attendance, discipline, snack, etc.) for your class. Complete weekly lesson plans.
