Geotechnical Field Technician - Construction Inspection

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a reliable and motivated Geotechnical Field Technician to join our construction inspection team. In this role, you will perform critical quality control testing and site observations directly on active earthwork and grading construction projects. This is a hands-on, outdoor position perfect for an individual with a background in construction who wants to transition into engineering oversight and materials testing. We provide comprehensive training and long-term career growth opportunities. Responsibilities Observe and record daily earthwork, grading, and other construction activities. Inspect and monitor contractor compliance with engineering plans. Perform field density testing on soil and structural fill compaction. Sample soil and rock materials for laboratory testing (Proctor, sieve analysis). Classify and describe soil and rock core materials using standard visual-manual methods. Complete daily field reports documenting site activities and test results accurately.
Job Requirements Experience:
Prior work experience working in the construction, earthwork, or civil engineering industry.
Driver's License:
Valid driver's license and a clean, safe driving record (required for traveling to various local job sites).
Physical Ability:
Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs of testing equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills for recording field data and interacting with site contractors.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in geology, construction management, or civil engineering is a plus.

Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
