Job Description

Aerial & Crane Inspector Advantage Fleet, LLC is looking for an experienced and certified Aerial & Crane Inspector to join our growing Aerial, Crane, and Equipment division. This position is responsible for inspecting aerial devices, cranes, digger derricks, bucket trucks, and other truck-mounted lifting equipment to ensure they are safe, compliant, and ready for operation. This is a specialized position that requires previous industry training, inspection certifications, dielectric testing training, strong mechanical knowledge, and an uncompromising commitment to safety. We are looking for someone who understands the responsibility that comes with putting their name on an inspection. The right candidate will be thorough, organized, mechanically knowledgeable, confident in their findings, and unwilling to overlook a safety concern just to get equipment out the door. What You'll Do Perform annual, periodic, and required inspections on aerial devices, cranes, digger derricks, and related equipment Perform dielectric testing on applicable aerial equipment Inspect structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and dielectric components Inspect booms, welds, pins, bushings, cylinders, hoses, fittings, outriggers, rotation systems, controls, mounting components, and related assemblies Inspect wire rope, hooks, sheaves, winches, load blocks, and other crane components Perform operational and functional testing to verify equipment operates properly and safely Identify cracks, excessive wear, hydraulic leaks, structural damage, electrical concerns, improper repairs, missing components, and other deficiencies Verify safety decals, warning labels, capacity information, controls, and required safety devices Determine whether equipment meets applicable inspection requirements Complete detailed and accurate inspection reports Document deficiencies, failed inspection items, and recommended repairs Photograph deficiencies and maintain supporting documentation when required Communicate inspection findings clearly with customers, technicians, service advisors, and management Assist in developing repair recommendations and scopes of work when deficiencies are discovered Perform follow-up inspections after repairs have been completed Perform inspections at Advantage Fleet facilities as well as customer locations and jobsites Maintain inspection tools, dielectric testing equipment, and other company-issued equipment Maintain accurate and organized inspection records Review manufacturer requirements, inspection procedures, service information, and applicable industry standards Stay current with changing inspection standards, manufacturer requirements, and industry practices Follow all Advantage Fleet and customer safety procedures What We're Looking For Must be certified to inspect aerial devices Must be certified to inspect cranes Must have completed dielectric testing training Previous experience performing aerial and/or crane inspections Experience working with aerial lifts, bucket trucks, cranes, digger derricks, utility equipment, or similar equipment Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and components Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities Understanding of dielectric aerial equipment and testing procedures Ability to identify structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and safety-related deficiencies Ability to understand manufacturer specifications, inspection procedures, service information, and applicable standards Extremely strong attention to detail Ability to make independent and responsible decisions regarding equipment safety Strong written documentation skills Strong communication and customer service skills Professional attitude when working directly with customers Organized, dependable, and punctual Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Ability and willingness to travel to customer facilities and jobsites as required Equipment You'll Work With Bucket trucks Articulating aerial devices Telescopic aerial devices Material handling aerial devices Digger derricks Mechanics truck cranes Service cranes Hydraulic cranes Utility equipment Dielectric aerial equipment Outrigger and stabilization systems Hydraulic and electrical operating systems Other truck-mounted aerial and lifting equipment Experience with manufacturers such as Altec, Versalift, Terex, IMT, Auto Crane, Stellar, Maintainer, Palfinger, National Crane, and similar equipment manufacturers is a plus. Inspections are completed thoroughly, accurately, and consistently Inspection documentation is complete and submitted on time Equipment deficiencies are identified before they become safety concerns or equipment failures Customers clearly understand what was found and what repairs are required Inspection and testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated as required Manufacturer and industry inspection procedures are followed You maintain current certifications, training, and knowledge within the industry You are able to work independently without sacrificing quality or accuracy Technicians and service staff receive clear information about repairs required following inspections Customers trust Advantage Fleet because of the quality and professionalism of your inspections Safety is never compromised for production, scheduling, or convenience We are not looking for someone who simply checks boxes on an inspection sheet. We want someone who understands that the equipment being inspected may be responsible for lifting employees dozens of feet into the air or handling extremely heavy loads. Pay:
