This fast paced and challenging position administers mechanical code in two communities and, besides residential, requires a good deal of commercial, industrial and fire suppression knowledge.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Excellent communication skills. Administers mechanical permits for code compliance and conducts mechanical inspections for multiple communities. Review mechanical drawings. Discuss code conflicts with contractors, engineers and architects. Communicates with contractors and homeowners and responds to questions regarding inspections, permits, and applicable requirements. Maintains records on BS&A. Completes continuing education necessary to maintain required licenses and certifications. Serves as a technical resource for other City departments within areas of expertise. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma Five years of experience in skilled trades and inspections. An equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Must be eligible under PA 407 for registration as a mechanical inspector.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification by the ICC as Mechanical Inspector, Plan Reviewer. Certification as a fire inspector. Commercial/Industrial experience. Experience installing or inspecting fire suppression systems.
