Work Setting:
Commercial, fabrication construction projects Make Quality Count on Major Construction Projects KODIAK Labor Solutions is seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / Quality Control Inspector (QCI) to support quality assurance and construction compliance on large commercial, fabrication jobs. This is an important field-based position for a detail-oriented inspection professional who can evaluate welding and fabrication work, interpret drawings and specifications, document findings, and work directly with project managers, engineers, contractors, and field teams to resolve quality issues. The ideal candidate understands that quality control is more than identifying problems after they occur. It is about recognizing potential issues early, communicating clearly, and helping project teams deliver safe, compliant, and durable work. What You'll Do Perform quality-control inspections of welding, fabrication, structural work, and related construction activities Verify that work complies with approved plans, specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements Review blueprints, drawings, weld maps, schematics, specifications, inspection plans, and technical documentation Inspect weld preparation, fit-up, alignment, welding procedures, completed welds, and fabrication quality Verify welder qualifications, welding procedures, materials, and documentation as required by the project Identify defects, nonconforming work, incomplete documentation, and potential quality concerns Prepare inspection reports, daily quality records, nonconformance reports, corrective-action documentation, and project records Use Microsoft Office and related systems to organize inspection data and prepare clear reports Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives Track corrective actions and verify that issues are properly resolved Support audits, testing, documentation reviews, and project closeout activities Help ensure compliance with applicable construction codes, safety regulations, project specifications, and quality standards Maintain a professional and visible presence on active construction sites Communicate quality expectations clearly to field personnel and construction teams What We're Looking For Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from an accredited organization; equivalent QCI qualifications may be considered Proven experience inspecting welding, fabrication, and construction work Experience with commercial construction, civil infrastructure, industrial construction, public works, or similar projects Strong understanding of welding inspection, construction quality control, codes, standards, and documentation Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and technical plans Experience identifying deficiencies and recommending practical corrective actions Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel Ability to prepare accurate, organized, and timely inspection reports Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in an active construction environment Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and field personnel Ability to work a flexible schedule of approximately 40-60 hours per week The Right Candidate The successful candidate will be technically knowledgeable, organized, dependable, and confident communicating with both field and management teams. This person must be comfortable making objective quality decisions while helping project teams maintain progress, safety, compliance, and workmanship standards.
