Part Time up to 10 hours/weekly, flexible, with occasional evening meetings

Wage Scale:

$28 - $42 per hour depending on experience Responsible for administering and enforcing the New Hampshire State Building Code (RSA 155-A) and applicable local ordinances. This position reviews building permit applications, conducts inspections at various stages of construction, and ensures compliance with structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety standards. The Inspector provides technical guidance to property owners, contractors, and design professionals, helping maintain safe and compliant development throughout the Town. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Review building permit applications and construction plans for compliance with state and local codes. Conduct inspections at key stages of construction, including foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, insulation, and final occupancy. Issue building, demolition, and occupancy permits. Maintain accurate records of inspections, permits, and violations. Investigate complaints related to building code compliance. Prepare written reports and correspondence for the Town Administrator and Select Board. Provide technical assistance and guidance to homeowners, contractors, and design professionals. Stay current with updates to the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and related standards. Attend training sessions and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in construction or building inspection preferred. Minimum of five years experience in construction, architecture, or engineering. Certification as a Building Inspector or ability to obtain within one year of hire. Thorough knowledge of the New Hampshire State Building Code (RSA 155-A) and related regulations.
