Job Description

Job Overview Front Range Fiber Solutions is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Construction Inspector to support our growing construction operations. This position will play a critical role in preparing projects for our construction teams and ensuring completed work meets company and customer quality standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on knowledge of telecommunications and underground construction practices, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision. Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-construction site inspections for new telecommunications projects before construction crews are dispatched.
  • Walk proposed project routes and determine the complete scope of work required for successful completion.
  • Identify potential construction challenges, access issues, utility conflicts, restoration requirements, and other field conditions that may affect the project.
  • Take detailed photographs, measurements, notes, and other documentation needed to properly communicate the project scope to construction teams.
  • Prepare clear field reports and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with homeowners, property owners, customers, and other parties when access or project communication is required.
  • Verify proposed construction routes and assist with identifying existing utilities and infrastructure.
  • Perform post-construction quality-control inspections.
  • Confirm completed work meets customer specifications, company standards, and applicable construction requirements.
  • Document QC deficiencies and communicate required corrections to operations and construction teams.
  • Complete and submit all required QC photographs, reports, closeout documentation, and supporting records.
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, construction crews, and office personnel to ensure projects are ready for dispatch and properly closed out.
  • Maintain company vehicles, inspection equipment, and assigned tools in professional working condition. Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, fiber-optic, utility, or underground construction.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications construction methods and field practices.
  • Ability to recognize proper and improper construction practices.
  • Experience using a utility locator and understanding utility markings.
  • Ability to safely operate a pickup truck while towing a trailer.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field conditions.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, digital photographs, mapping applications, and electronic reporting systems.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners and customers.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage a daily workload independently.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area as needed. Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is strongly preferred:
  • Underground fiber-optic construction
  • Directional drilling
  • Trenching and excavation
  • Handholes, pedestals, cabinets, and telecommunications structures
  • Aerial telecommunications construction
  • Fiber drops and residential construction
  • Utility locating
  • Construction prints and route maps
  • Telecommunications QC inspections
  • Project closeout documentation
  • Right-of-way and easement work
  • Restoration inspections What We're Looking For This is not a position that requires someone to be supervised throughout the day.
We are looking for someone who can be provided with a project, visit the site, evaluate what needs to be done, identify potential problems, and provide our construction team with accurate information before they arrive. The successful candidate should be dependable, observant, organized, and comfortable making field decisions. Strong documentation is especially important, as the information gathered during the inspection process will directly impact scheduling, construction planning, production, and project profitability. After construction is completed, the inspector will return to verify that the work was performed correctly and that all required documentation is ready for submission to the customer. About Front Range Fiber Solutions Front Range Fiber Solutions provides telecommunications construction, fiber-optic splicing, maintenance, emergency restoration, and infrastructure services throughout Texas. As our construction operations continue to grow, we are expanding our field inspection and quality-control capabilities to improve project planning, construction efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
