Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and self-motivated Residential Service Technician Electrician to join our team. This position is ideal for an electrician who enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving, working independently, and providing exceptional service to customers. As a Residential Service Technician, you will diagnose electrical issues, perform repairs and installations, evaluate electrical systems, and recommend appropriate solutions to homeowners. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable with technology, analytical, confident in making decisions, and able to communicate professionally with both customers and management. Candidates must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to take ownership of their work from the initial diagnosis through completion of the service call. We welcome experienced professionals, including seasoned tradespeople who bring years of hands-on knowledge and practical problem-solving skills to the position. A minimum of 3 years of electrical experience is required, with residential service and troubleshooting experience strongly preferred. Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install residential electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, devices, and equipment. Evaluate customer concerns, identify electrical problems, and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions. Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, coworkers, and management, both verbally and in writing. Clearly explain electrical issues, recommended solutions, and work being performed to homeowners in an easy-to-understand and professional manner. Respond to residential service calls efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service. Work independently in the field and make sound decisions based on electrical knowledge, safety requirements, company procedures, and customer needs. Accurately document service calls, work performed, materials used, recommendations, inspections, and other required information using company trade/service software. Use computers, tablets, smartphones, and company software for scheduling, documentation, communication, estimates, invoices, and service records. Inspect electrical systems for potential safety hazards, code violations, and necessary repairs or upgrades. Safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, testing equipment, and other equipment required to diagnose and complete electrical work. Test electrical systems and components to verify proper operation and ensure repairs and installations are completed safely. Follow all applicable National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA requirements, local electrical codes, company policies, and established safety procedures. Properly maintain and care for the assigned service vehicle, tools, equipment, and material inventory. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service vehicle and work area. Notify customers and management of additional electrical concerns or safety issues discovered during a service call. Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively while working in customers' homes and on company property. Requirements & Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional electrical experience. Residential electrical service, repair, and troubleshooting experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of residential electrical systems and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills. Mechanically inclined with strong hands-on problem-solving abilities. Ability to assess a situation, make sound decisions, and work independently with minimal supervision. Self-motivated, dependable, organized, and able to manage daily responsibilities effectively. Comfortable using computers, tablets, smartphones, and trade/service management software. Proficient with electrical hand tools, power tools, meters, testers, and diagnostic equipment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to clearly explain electrical concerns and recommended solutions to customers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Positive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing professionally. Ability to follow company procedures and maintain accurate service documentation. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Electrical license or certification where required by applicable state or local regulations. Additional electrical, generator, or manufacturer certifications are a plus. Ideal Candidate Our ideal Service Technician is more than someone who can complete electrical repairs.
