$1,500 Employee Referral Bonus Eligible Job Summary Installs, maintains, inspects, and repairs electrical systems and components in commercial and industrial settings.
Ensures compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies. Troubleshoots electrical malfunctions and performs preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Collaborates with other maintenance personnel and engineers to support facility operations and improvements. Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Travel:
This position will be based out of our Graham Quarry in Lorton, VA and will service other Vulcan locations around Northern Virginia including: Warrenton, Manassas, Stafford, Woodbridge. Up to 70% local travel during the day. Minimal overnight travel required. Essential Functions
Assist a skilled electrician by supplying materials, equipment, and tools at the scene of jobs.
Participate in stringing overhead/underground lines and cables and in installing conduit and wire.
Participate as a trainee in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wiring systems and other electrical or electronic equipment.
Must have the ability to:
Learn the practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the Electrician's trade.
Learn to read and draw simple electrical sketches.
Learn the occupational hazards of the Electrician's trade.
Gradually perform assigned tasks with less supervision.
Learn how to operate power driven machinery such as roto-hammers, band saws, drill presses, or grinders.
Use common hand tools such as a screwdriver, wrench, hammer, or other similar tools.
Perform routine installations and repairs of fuses, motors, sensors including terminations, electrical construction & installation.
Learn procedures for Electrical ARC Flash Protection, Electrical LO/TO and General Safety Precautions for Troubleshooting.
Able to Label Disconnect switches and Devices
Work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality support to the plant operations. Critical Competencies
Equipment Operation
Proficiency in operating large equipment, including understanding the controls, gauges, and indicators. Ability to manipulate equipment accurately and smoothly for various tasks. Skill in handling attachments and understanding their applications.
Safety Awareness
Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments.
Technical Expertise
Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction and report them to the maintenance team.
Material Handling
Proficient in loading various materials onto trucks, conveyors, or other transport vehicles while maintaining load stability and distribution. Ability to estimate weights and volumes for optimal loading and transportation efficiency.

High school diploma or equivalent
Continuing education in related coursework is desirable. Experience
Some experience in the aggregate or related industry preferred.
Some related experience working with electricity is desired.
Some experience working safely with hand and power tools. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
Some computer skills; cell phones and other electronic devices
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn to perform simple algebraic calculation (pipe bending)
Ability to plan and work effectively
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions in the English language Other Requirements
Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Must have the ability to drive a repair truck or fork truck on a daily basis.
Ability to distinguish and designate terminations and voltage of color-coded electrical systems.
Must be able to lift arms above shoulder level.
Perform heavy manual labor requiring mechanical dexterity under varying weather conditions.
Ability to work in a very stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Test electrical equipment, Electrical PPE, Electrician's hand tools and motorized vehicles
Hourly Range:
the hourly range for this role is between $28.00
$45.
