In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, interpreting detailed blueprints, and creating precise CAD drawings to support our commercial construction projects. Responsibilities Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately determine project scope and material requirements. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to develop detailed cost estimates for commercial projects. Prepare takeoff quantities from blueprints using CAD drafting software and manual calculations to support bid submissions. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and clarify project details. Manage multiple project estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Assist in developing project budgets by estimating labor, material costs, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes. Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by reviewing change orders, tracking expenses, and adjusting estimates as necessary. Review construction contracts and ensure all estimates align with contractual requirements and client expectations. Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, blueprints, correspondence, and revisions for future reference. Skills Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for digital markup and document management. Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing with suppliers and subcontractors. Experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software for comprehensive bid preparation. Extensive knowledge of managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Skilled in using estimating software and construction management platforms effectively. Advanced blueprint reading skills combined with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately. Expertise in spreadsheets (Excel) for data analysis, cost tracking, and material estimation. Familiarity with construction drawing review processes to ensure accuracy before bidding or ordering materials. Proven ability in cost management, including estimating material costs and controlling project budgets. Strong background in construction site experience coupled with understanding of contracts and legal considerations. Ability to estimate material requirements from blueprints efficiently using CAD drafting tools. Excellent client communication skills to present estimates clearly and negotiate effectively.
