About the Role Coordinate with account managers to process RFQs and develop a layout, productions routes, and an estimate of how a job will run through production. This role is essential within the company and requires excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate on all organizational levels. This role requires excellent knowledge about the production process and the various work center capabilities of Curtis Packaging. This Estimator/Production order handling role involves:
Estimating:
Reviewing and understanding the requirements of an RFQ. Researching layout standards in ERP system. Create a layout and an estimate using Artios and AVP. Review complex manufacturing routes with Production. Determining which production route to use if not an existing one. Request material costs from outside vendors. Request tooling costs from outside vendors. Work with production on new projects to develop the best manufacturing route for new projects. Work with the shipping department to obtain shipping quotes when applicable. Estimate bid from tender rounds when applicable.
Production Order Handling:
Reviewing and understanding a sales order and creating a production order that matches the sales order. Sales Order Handling/Help in
Account Management:
Help Account Management with Sales Orders and other Account Management related tasks on a needed basis. Due to workload fluctuations in the Estimator/Production order handling, the position also helps the Account Management team with processing of sales orders, creating RFQs and creating part numbers including their bills of materials in the ERP system AVP. Training in those areas will also be executed, but initially all focus will be on getting the estimating/production order handling skills in place. Desired Skills and Personal Qualities Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required, for example as an estimator, supervisor or with production order handling or similar. Experience working with Epicor (AVP) is desired but not a hard requirement. Experience working in Artios or other structural design SW is helpful but not required. Strong communicator with people at all organizational levels. Organized, meticulous and systematic. Open, honest, and eager to learn with a "roll up the sleeves and get-it-done mentality". Thrive in a fast-paced environment while accomplishing challenging tasks.
