Key ResponsibilitiesLead all estimating and preconstruction activities for mechanical construction projects.
Prepare and oversee detailed conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and process mechanical scopes.
Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing strategies.
Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate proposals from subcontractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers.
Analyze labor requirements, production rates, material costs, and equipment needs to develop comprehensive project budgets.
Work closely with project management and operations teams to identify risks, opportunities, value-engineering options, and execution strategies.
Develop bid packages, scope sheets, clarifications, and project-specific pricing assumptions.
Present estimates and bid recommendations to executive leadership.
Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, labor trends, material pricing, and procurement challenges impacting mechanical construction.
Mentor and develop estimating staff while implementing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.7+ years of estimating experience within the mechanical contracting industry, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, piping systems, process mechanical installations, and associated construction methods.
Proven experience estimating commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, manufacturing, or municipal mechanical projects.
Advanced ability to interpret plans, specifications, P&IDs, equipment schedules, and contract documents.
Proficiency with Bluebeam, Trimble/Accubid, QuoteSoft, FastEST, Sage Estimating, or similar estimating platforms.
Strong understanding of labor productivity, material procurement, fabrication, and installation costs.
Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple pursuits and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
