Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hollow Metal Door and Hardware Estimator / Detailer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, preparing detailed shop drawings, and managing the technical aspects of hollow metal door and hardware projects. Your expertise will ensure precise material takeoffs, cost control, and seamless communication with clients, suppliers, and project teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to commercial construction projects by delivering accurate estimates and detailed project documentation that drive successful project execution. Duties Review construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to interpret technical details related to hollow metal doors and hardware components. Prepare detailed estimates by calculating material quantities, labor costs, and equipment needs using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools. Develop comprehensive project budgets, ensuring all aspects of material costs, labor, and subcontractor services are accurately accounted for. Utilize Bluebeam and other construction management software to create precise shop drawings, detailing hardware placements and door specifications. Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive rates while maintaining quality standards. Manage project estimates from initial bid through final proposal submission, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project scope. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors to review blueprints, interpret technical drawings, and address design or scope changes effectively. Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by tracking material requirements, adjusting estimates as needed, and managing budgets efficiently. Assist in procurement processes by estimating material requirements from blueprints and coordinating with vendors for timely delivery. Maintain organized records of all estimation documents, correspondence, and revisions for future reference. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating for commercial projects with a focus on hollow metal doors and hardware systems. Strong proficiency in estimating software such as AVAware and ProCore. Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans accurately. Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu or similar digital markup tools for creating detailed shop drawings. Knowledge of construction management software like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets), Xactimate (for estimating), and other relevant tools. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure clarity on project scope and costs. Strong understanding of cost management principles including material cost estimating, cost control strategies, and budgeting techniques. Construction site experience or hands-on familiarity with installation processes is a plus but not mandatory. Valid experience in interpreting technical drawings related to commercial door systems; knowledge of contracts and project management practices is advantageous.
