Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered within budget and on schedule. Your expertise in construction estimating software, cost management, and project management will be vital in delivering high-quality results that meet client expectations. Responsibilities Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs. Develop comprehensive project budgets by analyzing scope, materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs using estimating software such as HeavyBid or Bluebeam. Prepare detailed bid proposals and pricing strategies that reflect current market conditions while ensuring profitability. Manage multiple estimating projects simultaneously, maintaining organized spreadsheets and documentation for each stage of the process. Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms. Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights that influence cost estimates and project planning. Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets and implement cost control measures as needed. Review construction contracts and manage change orders to reflect scope adjustments accurately. Utilize construction management software to track project milestones, budgets, and resource allocation efficiently. Communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding project estimates, potential risks, and opportunities for cost savings. Qualifications Proven experience in managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid or Bluebeam; familiarity with Xactimate is a plus. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans. Skilled in using Microsoft Office tools including Excel spreadsheets for detailed cost analysis and reporting. Demonstrated ability in negotiation with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to achieve optimal pricing outcomes. Solid understanding of construction management software systems for project tracking and documentation. Experience with material cost estimating, cost management strategies, and estimating construction project budgets. Construction site experience combined with a thorough understanding of construction processes and safety standards. Excellent communication skills for client interactions, team collaboration, and contract negotiations. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications accurately while managing multiple deadlines effectively.
