Full-Time About the Opportunity A well-established general contractor in the Columbus, Indiana area is looking to add a General Estimator to its growing team. This company delivers a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, institutional, and design-build projects throughout the region. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator to play a key role in preconstruction, work closely with project teams and clients, and contribute to projects from initial budgeting through final bid submission. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals for commercial construction projects. Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to develop competitive bids. Identify potential cost savings, scope gaps, and project risks during the estimating process. Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Assist with conceptual estimates, budgeting, value engineering, and design-build proposals. Maintain organized bid documentation and ensure estimates are completed accurately and on schedule. Support project handoff from preconstruction to operations following contract award. Qualifications Experience in commercial construction estimating for a general contractor. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents. Experience with quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, subcontractor pricing, and bid preparation. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard construction estimating software. Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but relevant industry experience will also be considered.
