5+ Years of Marine and Heavy Civil Construction experience on State, Federal and Private Construction Projects.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Estimator to lead accurate, competitive cost estimates for civil, marine, industrial and infrastructure projects. This role will support preconstruction and bidding activities for projects including pipeline, highway and federal work. The Senior Estimator will compile takeoffs, prepare detailed quantities and cost models, evaluate subcontractor bids, identify risks and value-engineering opportunities, and collaborate with project teams to optimize project scope and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil, marine, industrial, pipeline, infrastructure, highway and federal projects, from conceptual budgets through final bid submission.
Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing, and unit rate development using industry-standard estimating tools and methodologies.
Build and maintain layered estimate models and assemblies; manage and update estimate databases and historical cost lines.
Use HCSS (HeavyBid/HeavyJob) and other estimating software to assemble bids, track pricing and produce bid packages and reports.
Solicit, evaluate and coordinate subcontractor and supplier quotes; prepare scope packages and clarify scope gaps.
Conduct risk analysis, contingency development and value engineering to improve competitiveness and margin.
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers and business development teams to align estimates with schedules, constructability and client requirements.
Prepare clear, concise bid narratives, assumptions and proposal clarifications for clients and internal stakeholders.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior estimators and takeoff specialists; review estimates for accuracy and compliance with internal QA/QC standards.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits and client meetings as needed; support post-bid estimate reviews and lessons-learned sessions.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).5+ years of progressive estimating experience with a focus on civil, marine, industrial, pipeline, infrastructure or highway projects; experience with federal contracting is strongly desired.
Proven proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob and common takeoff and estimating software; strong Excel skills required.
Deep knowledge of construction means and methods, unit pricing, labor productivity rates and equipment estimating.
