Job Description

Moran Iron Works values people as individuals - not as "workers" or "staff." We create goals and plans for professional and personal growth, recognizing that not everyone is the same, and that there's greatness in differences. We believe our company's success is a direct result of our passion for doing great work and taking on the responsibility and accountability to do what it takes to have our customers be more than satisfied with their fabrication orders. When our clients make a purchase order, they know they're getting the professionalism, experience, knowledge, and skill Moran Iron Works is known for. To help maintain this high-performing culture and drive our future growth, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic Technical Cost Estimator. Responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for structural steel, heavy fabrication, marine, bridge, and industrial manufacturing projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, labor, materials, subcontractor pricing, historical cost data, and project requirements to support management in bidding, pricing, proposal development, and project planning decisions. • Evaluates project scope, technical requirements, and customer specifications to identify pricing considerations, cost risks, and estimate adjustments.
  • Assesses project cost effectiveness by reviewing bid results, actual costs, pricing considerations, and estimating accuracy.
  • Utilizes Excel, ERP/CRM systems, and project tracking tools to maintain estimate records, bid documentation, and cost data.
  • Supports management in bidding, pricing, and proposal decisions through accurate cost analysis and estimating processes.
Additional duties may include:
  • Assisting with proposal coordination and bid preparation activities related to project opportunities.
