Senior Cost Engineer

We're seeking an experienced Senior Cost Engineer to play a key role in evaluating new manufacturing opportunities and developing accurate, competitive cost estimates. This is a great opportunity for someone who combines strong machining knowledge with expertise in estimating, quoting, and cost analysis. You'll work closely with Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to evaluate complex RFQs, understand manufacturing requirements, and develop pricing strategies that support both customer needs and profitability.
Compensation :
$90,000 to $110,000 + bonus
Location :
Big Lake, MN; 100% onsite What You'll Do
- Lead estimating and quoting for complex RFQs and new business opportunities
- Review blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models
- Develop detailed cost models for labor, materials, tooling, and overhead
- Evaluate machining processes, routings, and manufacturing requirements
- Analyze the cost impact of design and engineering changes
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to validate manufacturing assumptions
- Support pricing, margin analysis, and post-award cost reviews
- Collaborate across Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in estimating, quoting, costing, or manufacturing engineering
- Strong understanding of machining and manufacturing processes
- Experience managing complex RFQs
- Strong blueprint reading and CAD knowledge
- Experience with cost modeling, pricing, and margin analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Preferred Experience
- Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience
- ERP system experience
- Customer pricing or negotiation experience
- Lean or continuous improvement experience
