Knife River is seeking an Estimator to support civil and commercial construction projects. In this role, you'll analyze plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, and prepare accurate, competitive bids for aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and related work. You'll collaborate closely with project managers, operations, and field teams to develop cost-effective solutions while upholding Knife River's commitment to safety, quality, and integrity. Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, and addenda for civil and commercial projects Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and related scopes Solicit, analyze, and level vendor and subcontractor quotes Develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals Collaborate with project managers and field teams to refine means, methods, and pricing Identify constructability issues, risks, and value-engineering opportunities Maintain estimating databases, historical costs, and production rates Support handoff of awarded projects to project management and operations Required Skills Construction estimating Quantity takeoff Reading blueprints and plans Cost analysis and budgeting Bid preparation Estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Heavy Bid) MS Excel and Office Suite Vendor and subcontractor quoting Risk assessment Knowledge of DOT and local specs
